Stress signaling from the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum: coordination of gene transcriptional and translational controls.

open access: yesGenes & Development, 1999
All eukaryotic cells have an extensive membranous labyrinth network of branching tubules and flattened sacs called the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Approximately one-third of all cellular proteins are translocated into the lumen of the ER where post ...

Flippase‐Mediated Hybrid Vesicle Division

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The successful reconstitution of Drs2p–Cdc50p flippase in small and giant polymer lipid hybrid vesicles is illustrated. The hybrid vesicles show adenosine 5′‐triphosphate consumption and flipping of 2‐dioleoyl‐sn‐glycero‐3‐phospho‐l‐serine lipids from the inner to the outer leaflet.

Self‐Powered α Radionuclide Nanomedicine: Mitochondria‐Targeted Multimodal Energy Recycling for Amplified Radioimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional nanomedicine co‐loading of the α‐emitter 223RaCl2 within iron‐based MOFs is developed. Precisely targeted to mitochondria, it exploits the full decay spectrum to synchronize three therapeutic actions: direct α‐particle ionization, self‐powered catalytic H2O2 generation via secondary electrons, and immunogenic cell death induction ...

MAM-mediated mitophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress: the hidden regulators of ischemic stroke

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience
Ischemic stroke (IS) is the predominant subtype of stroke and a leading contributor to global mortality. The mitochondrial-associated endoplasmic reticulum membrane (MAM) is a specialized region that facilitates communication between the endoplasmic ...

Penfluridol induces endoplasmic reticulum stress leading to autophagy in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and difficult to treat cancers. Experimental and clinical evidence suggests that high basal state autophagy in pancreatic tumors could induce resistance to chemotherapy.

Biomimetic Cell Membrane‐Coated Scaffolds for Enhanced Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the development and use of cell membrane‐coated scaffolds in tissue engineering. Bioinspired phospholipid and glycocalyx coatings enhance anti‐fouling, anti‐thrombogenic, and selective molecular recognition properties. Native cell membrane coatings further support cell‐specific interactions, immune modulation, and reduced bacterial

Biopolymer Membranes for Osmotic Power Generation in Bionic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of biopolymer‐based osmotic power generation for bionic applications. It uniquely bridges biopolymer membranes, reverse electrodialysis(RED), and bionic applications, addressing a critical research gap by integrating biopolymer membranes with RED technologies for biomedical use.
