Effects of Olmesartan on Endothelial Progenitor Cell Mobilization and Function in Carotid Atherosclerosis

open access: yesMedical Science Monitor, 2015
Background Olmesartan is a type of angiotensin II receptor inhibitor that can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events. However, its role in the function of endothelial progenitor cells in atherosclerosis patients is still unclear.

Endothelial Progenitor Cells [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2007
See related article, pages 1379–1388 Endothelial dysfunction is a hallmark of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. Restoring the endothelial lining to normal is critical for slowing or reversing the progression of vascular disease. The progression of endothelial regeneration following mechanical disruption and its effect on vascular ...

Transdifferentiation of endothelial progenitor cells into rhabdomyosarcoma defined by hedgehog signaling competence

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a pediatric soft tissue sarcoma resembling developing skeletal muscle, but tumors are found in sites devoid of skeletal muscle, suggesting a non-myogenic cell of origin. We previously described an endothelial progenitor

Inducible Forward Programming of Human Pluripotent Stem Cells to Hemato-endothelial Progenitor Cells with Hematopoietic Progenitor Potential

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2020
Summary: Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) offer a promising platform to model early embryonic developmental processes, to create disease models that can be evaluated by drug screens as well as proof-of-concept experiments for regenerative medicine.

Aberrant lymphatic endothelial progenitors in lymphatic malformation development.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Lymphatic malformations (LMs) are vascular anomalies thought to arise from dysregulated lymphangiogenesis. These lesions impose a significant burden of disease on affected individuals.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

A Case of Abnormal Lymphatic-Like Differentiation and Endothelial Progenitor Cell Activation in Neovascularization Associated with Hemi-Retinal Vein Occlusion

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology, 2015
Purpose: Pathological vascular differentiation in retinal vein occlusion (RVO)-related neovessel formation remains poorly characterized. The role of intraocular lymphatic-like differentiation or endothelial progenitor cell activity has not been studied ...

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.
