L’étude du cycle sexuel de l’Anchois montre que la principale période de reproduction s’étend d’avril à octobre. Celle-ci serait sous la dépendance principale de l’élévation de la température de surface. La croissance, abordée à l’aide des marques supposées journalières sur les otolithes, donne des résultats jugés satisfaisants jusqu’à 10 cm L.F.
