A conformational analysis of leucine enkephalin as a function of pH
Biopolymers, 2002AbstractThe conformations of Leu enkephalin in aqueous solution have been investigated as a function of pH using molecular dynamics simulations. The simulations suggest the peptide backbone exists as a mixture of folded and unfolded forms (approximately 50% each) at neutral pH, but is always unfolded at low or high pH.

Glycation of Leucine-Enkephalin: Imidazolidinones and Amadori Compounds
2001In an effort to elucidate the properties and reactivity of the parent free sugars, herein we present the formation of leucine-enkephalin related imidazolidinones, as well as Amadori compounds from glucose, mannose or galactose and leucine-enkephalin. We will present the influence of solvent , temperature and added base on the rate of formation of these

SYNTHESIS OF CHROMOPHORIC DEHYDRO ANALOG OF LEUCINE ENKEPHALIN
International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1981Dehydropeptides incorporating a highly colored group have been prepared by reacting peptide esters with 4‐(4′‐dimethyl‐amino‐3′‐nitro) benzylidene‐2‐phenyloxazolin‐5‐one. This method allows a rapid synthesis of colored analogs of physiologically important peptides, in this case, leucine enkephalin.

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 1989
SUMMARY1. A radio‐immunoassay (RIA) for methionine‐enkephalin sulfoxide was developed and was used to measure methionine‐enkephalin, after oxidation, in the rat brain.2. The RIA was performed together with assays that use commercially available met‐and leu‐enkephalin antisera.3.

Secondary ion mass spectra of the neuropeptides leucine-enkephalin and methionine-enkephalin
Biological Mass Spectrometry, 1982Positive and negative secondary ion mass spectra obtained by bombardment of thin films of leucine-enkephalin and methionine-enkephalin with a pulsed beam of Cs+ ions of energy 5–15 keV were recorded using a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Many of the secondary ions are metastable.

Interactions of Leucine-enkephalin with α-Adrenoceptors in the Conscious Dog
Chest, 1983Leucine-enkephalin (Leu-ENK) administered systemically to the conscious dog increases heart rate and blood pressure, a response prevented by naloxone and hence mediated by opiate receptors. Clonidine attenuates the heart rate increase without affecting the pressor response.

Determination of Methionine-Enkephalin and Leucine-Enkephalin in Human Cerebrospinal Fluid
1983Abstract Commercially available radio immunoassay kits were used to find out the concentrations of met-enkephalin and leu-enkephalin in the human concentrated CSF samples in the presence of seven proteinase inhibitors. Reference values were established for lumbar CSF. No correlation was found between total protein content and both enkephalins in CSF.

The effects of methionine- and leucine-enkephalin on spinal neurones of the cat
Brain Research, 1979Extra- and intracellular recordings were obtained from physiologically identified, spinal neurones in the 6th and 7th lumbar segments of the pentobarbitone-anaesthetized cat. Microiontophoretically applied methionine- and leucine-enkephalin reversibly inhibited the spontaneous, synaptically induced, and L-glutamate-induced activity in the majority of ...

Synthesis and biological activity of chloromethyl ketones of leucine enkephalin
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1980Summary The chloromethyl ketones of leucine enkephalin and D-Ala 2 -leucine enkephalin have been synthesized and tested for biological activity in the guinea pig ileum assay. The derivatives show an increased potency in morphine-like action in comparison to the corresponding enkephalins.
