Methionine–enkephalin related glycoconjugates

International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1993
A series of glycoconjugates, in which [Met5]enkephalin or [d‐Ala2, Met5]enkephalin have been linked through an ester bond to the HO‐6 of various d‐glycopyranose moieties, were synthesized by classical solution methods. The biological activities of these compounds were determined on selective pharmacological preparations: guinea pig ileum and mouse vas ...

Crystal structure of methionine-enkephalin

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1986
The crystal structure of methionine-enkephalin has been determined by X-ray crystallography. There are two independent pentapeptides in the asymmetric unit and both display extended backbone conformations with their side chains arranged alternately below and above the backbone plane.

Parallel distribution of methionine-enkephalin-arg6-gly7-leu8 with methionine-enkephalin, leucine-enkephalin and methionine-enkephalin-arg6-phe7 in human and bovine brains

Life Sciences, 1983
Using specific radioimmunoassays(RIAs) for methionine-enkephalin(Met-Enk), leucine-enkephalin(Leu-Enk), methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8 (Met-Enk-Arg-Gly-Leu) and methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 (Met-Enk-Arg-Phe), we studied the regional distribution of these opioid peptides in human and bovine brains.

Totalsynthese von Methionin‐Enkephalin

Angewandte Chemie, 1976

OCCURRENCE OF METHIONINE-ENKEPHALIN-ARG6-GLY7-LEU8WITH METHIONINE-ENKEPHALIN, LEUCINE-ENKEPHALIN AND METHIONINE-ENKEPHALIN-ARG6-PHE7IN HUMAN GASTRIC ANTRUM.

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1983
Recent studies on the nucleotide sequence of cloned DNA complementary to mRNA for preproenkephalin from bovine adrenal medulla and human pheochromocytoma have revealed that this precursor molecule contains four copies of methionine-enkephalin (Met-Enk) and one copy each of leucine-enkephalin (Leu-Enk), methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8 (Met-Enk-Arg6-

ENZYME IMMUNOASSAY FOR METHIONINE‐ENKEPHALIN SULFOXIDE

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 1990
SUMMARY1. An immunoassay technique employing an enzyme‐labelled ligand was developed for the sulfoxide derivative of the opioid peptide methionine‐enkephalin (MOE).2. The sensitivity of the enzyme immunoassay (EIA) was approximately twofold higher than that achieved in the radio‐immunoassay (RIA) using tritiated ligand.

Methionine‐enkephalin peptides in human teeth

International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1988
The presence of the free opioid pentapeptide methionine enkephalin (ME) and of ME‐containing peptide(s) was established firmly in decalcified, depulped human teeth by using a combination of methods including RP‐HPLC, radioimmunoassay, radioreceptorassay, trypsin, carboxypeptidase B, fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry, and MS/MS methodology ...

Synaptic mechanism of methionine-enkephalin uptake

Life Sciences, 1982
The actions of classical neurotransmitters at the synapse are rapidly terminated either by re-uptake or by enzymatic degradation. Enkephalins, like other neurotransmitters, have been demonstrated to be degraded by active proteinases present in the brain. However, it has been generally assumed that an uptake process is not operant for met-enkephalin. To

METHIONINE ENKEPHALIN AND ISOSTERIC ANALOGUES

International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1980
Biological activities are reported for two different types of analogues of methionine enkephalin. Cyclic analogues, bridged between the amino‐ and carboxy‐ terminals of the parent peptide, are inactive. In contrast, significant levels of activity are displayed by linear isosterically modified analogues in which the Tyr1 ‐Gly2 peptide bond is replaced ...

Dopamine and methionine-enkephalin in human brain

Neuroscience Letters, 1982
Abstract The contents of dopamine (determined radioenzymatically) and methionine-enkephalin (assayed by a radioimmunoassay) were measured in several areas of the human brain. The peptide was principally localized in dopamine-rich structures. In patients with Parkinson's disease, in contrast to the general dopamine deficiency, the reduction in ...
