Neuronal pathways in tendon healing and tendinopathy : update [PDF]
The regulatory mechanisms involved in tendon homeostasis and repair are not fully understood. Accumulating data, however, demonstrate that the nervous system, in addition to afferent (sensory) functions, through efferent neuronal pathways plays an active

Role of membrane lipids in peptide hormone function: binding of enkephalins to micelles.
In the course of their biological function, peptide hormones must be transferred from an aqueous phase to the lipid-rich environment of their membrane-bound receptor proteins.

Methionine-enkephalin and leucine-enkephalin in human sympathoadrenal system and pheochromocytoma. [PDF]
To elucidate the physiological and pathophysiological significance of methionine- and leucine-enkephalin (Met-and Leu-enkephalin, respectively) in human sympathoadrenal system, the contents of these peptides in normal human sympathetic nervous system, adrenal medulla, and pheochromocytomas were determined by specific radioimmunoassays combined with ...

Dopamine-D1 and δ-opioid receptors co-exist in rat striatal neurons [PDF]
Cocaine’s enhancement of dopaminergic neurotransmission in the mesolimbic pathway plays a critical role in the initial reinforcing properties of this drug. However, other neurotransmitter systems are also integral to the addiction process.

Asthma induced by enkephalin. [PDF]
A total of 291 diabetics were studied to see whether an asthmatic reaction was associated with facial flushing induced by chlorpropamide and alcohol. Of these patients, 191 reported facial flushing, of whom 12 reported breathlessness as well. Of these 12, five also described wheezing, and respiratory function tests showed them to have asthma.

Isolation and identification of enkephalins in pedal ganglia of Mytilus edulis (Mollusca).
An acid extract of pedal ganglia of the mollusc Mytilus edulis was fractionated by high-pressure liquid chromatography with a reverse-phase column. Peak fractions with retention times of those of [Met]- and [Leu]enkephalin were subjected to binding ...

Capillary HPLC Separation of Selected Neuropeptides [PDF]
Neuropeptides play a pivotal role in brain and peripheral nervous system function. As high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) becomes the central tool in the separation and characterization of peptide and protein samples, its selectivity ...

Evaluation of Analgesic Activity of Newly Synthesized Phthalyl- tyrosyl-glycin Sodium
Alteration in the backbone structure of the endogenously released opioid peptides Leu5/Met5 enkephalins may result in compounds having comparable profile of pharmacological activity but with different physicochemical properties and side effects. Phthalyl

Toksikologija bioregulatora kao potencijalnih bioloških agensa [PDF]
Bioregulators or modulators are biochemical compounds such as peptides, that occur naturally in organisms. Advances in biotechnology create the potential for the misuse of peptide bioregulators in offensive biological weapons programmes.
