Multi‐label logo recognition and retrieval based on weighted fusion of neural features

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 41, Issue 10, October 2024.
Abstract Classifying logo images is a challenging task as they contain elements such as text or shapes that can represent anything from known objects to abstract shapes. While the current state of the art for logo classification addresses the problem as a multi‐class task focusing on a single characteristic, logos can have several simultaneous labels ...

Educational disparities in brain health and dementia across Latin America and the United States

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 20, Issue 9, Page 5912-5925, September 2024.
Abstract BACKGROUND Education influences brain health and dementia. However, its impact across regions, specifically Latin America (LA) and the United States (US), is unknown. METHODS A total of 1412 participants comprising controls, patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) from LA and the US were included ...

Accuracy Improvement in the LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS Measurement of 87Sr/86Sr in Bioapatite Using Dentin of Carcharinus leucas (Bull shark) to Estimate 87Rb/85Rb Instrument Induced Fractionation

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 595-612, September 2024.
Key Points Accurate 87Sr/86Sr measurement by LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS requires an appraisal of 87Rb/85Rb instrument induced fractionation, βRb. βRb can be calculated from the analysis of shark dentin with known 87Sr/86Sr composition and applied to unknown samples. Highly accurate 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratios were obtained from modern and fossil bioapatite samples.

El marco de razonamiento clínico de Bobath: Un modelo de ciencia de sistemas para abordar la complejidad de los trastornos del neurodesarrollo incluida la parálisis cerebral

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 66, Issue 8, Page e120-e129, August 2024.

Tropical forest succession increases tree taxonomic and functional richness but decreases evenness

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 33, Issue 8, August 2024.
Abstract Aim Successional changes in functional diversity provide insights into community assembly by indicating how species are filtered into local communities based on their traits. Here, we assess successional changes in taxonomic and functional richness, evenness and redundancy along gradients of climate, soil pH and forest cover.

Anaesthetic mortality in dogs: A worldwide analysis and risk assessment

open access: yesVeterinary Record, Volume 195, Issue 1, 6/13 July 2024.
Abstract Background Ensuring patient safety during small animal anaesthesia is crucial. This study aimed to assess anaesthetic‐related deaths in dogs globally, identify risks and protective factors and inform clinical practice. Methods This prospective cohort multicentric study involved 55,022 dogs from 405 veterinary centres across various countries ...
