Zero Entropy Is Generic

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
Dan Rudolph showed that for an amenable group, Γ, the generic measure-preserving action of Γ on a Lebesgue space has zero entropy. Here, this is extended to nonamenable groups.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Generalized Distance-Based Entropy and Dimension Root Entropy for Simplified Neutrosophic Sets

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
In order to quantify the fuzziness in the simplified neutrosophic setting, this paper proposes a generalized distance-based entropy measure and a dimension root entropy measure of simplified neutrosophic sets (NSs) (containing interval-valued and single ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Minimal Entropy and Entropic Risk Measures: A Unified Framework via Relative Entropy

open access: yesRisks
We introduce a new coherent risk measure, the minimal-entropy risk measure, which is built on the minimal-entropy σ-martingale measure—a concept inspired by the well-known minimal-entropy martingale measure used in option pricing.

Learning Entropy: Multiscale Measure for Incremental Learning

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
First, this paper recalls a recently introduced method of adaptive monitoring of dynamical systems and presents the most recent extension with a multiscale-enhanced approach.
