Identification and characterization of previously described epitopes in HIV-1 subtypes B, C, F and BF in Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
Genetic analysis of HIV-1 is essential to improve treatment strategies and select epitopes for vaccine programs. The objective of this study was to determine whether known CD4+ and CD8+ epitopes were present in Brazilian HIV-1 strains. We used previously

Immunogenicity of HIV-1-Based Virus-Like Particles with Increased Incorporation and Stability of Membrane-Bound Env

open access: yesVaccines, 2021
An optimal prophylactic vaccine to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) transmission should elicit protective antibody responses against the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env).

IMF-ENV

open access: yesIMF Working Papers
IMF-ENV is a global dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model developed by the IMF's Research Department. The model features a database of 160 countries and regions, along with 76 sectors, and can be calibrated to a wide range of country-sector combinations.

Mechanisms for Env Glycoprotein Acquisition by Retroviruses [PDF]

open access: yesAIDS Research and Human Retroviruses, 2011
A mandatory step in the formation of an infectious retroviral particle is the acquisition of its envelope glycoprotein (Env). This step invariably occurs by Env positioning itself in the host membrane at the location of viral budding and being incorporated along with the host membrane into the viral particle.

Adaptive Macroscopic Ensemble Allocation for Robot Teams Monitoring Spatiotemporal Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We propose an online, environment feedback‐driven macroscopic ensemble approach to adapt robot team task allocation in spatiotemporal environments by controlling robot populations rather than assigning individual robots, all while maintaining robust team performance even for small teams. Our simulation and experimental results show better or comparable

Pathogenesis of Vasculitis in env-pX Rats

open access: yesAnnals of Vascular Diseases, 2012
Transgenic rats carrying the env-pX gene of human T-cell leukemia virus type I (env-pX rats) develop necrotizing angiitis resembling human polyarteritis nodosa (PN). In the development of vasculitis in these rats, the thymus plays an important role. In this review, we provide an outline of the pathogenesis of vasculitis observed in env-pX rats, and ...

Driver Behavior Modeling with Subjective Risk‐Driven Inverse Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A subjective risk‐driven inverse reinforcement learning framework is proposed to model driver decision‐making. It infers drivers' risk perception and risk tolerance from driving data. A learnable risk threshold is used to regulate decisions, enabling interpretable and human‐like driving behavior decisions.

HIV protein profile characteristics in patients with first-time detected infection

open access: yesИнфекция и иммунитет
The HIV-infection continues to be one of the most large-scale epidemics worldwide. Many techniques have been developed to detect this disease, but the Western blot based on the identification of specific viral proteins remains the most commonly used ...

Cardiovascular Exercise Drives Neuroprotection in a Mouse Model of Spinocerebellar Ataxia 1 Via Rescue of Aberrant Splicing

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia 1 (SCA1) is a fatal hereditary neurodegenerative disorder with no approved therapies, and gene‐targeting strategies have thus far failed in clinical trials. Exercise remains the only intervention shown to provide clinical benefit in patients with spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs), yet the underlying mechanisms remain ...

The HIV Env-mediated fusion reaction

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 2003
The current general model of HIV viral entry involves the binding of the trimeric viral envelope glycoprotein gp120/gp41 to cell surface receptor CD4 and chemokine co-receptor CXCR4 or CCR5, which triggers conformational changes in the envelope proteins.
