Dispersal limitation relative to environmental filtering governs the vertical small‐scale assembly of soil microbiomes during restoration

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, 2019
1. Uncovering the plant-soil feedback mechanisms underlying the assembly of belowground microbial communities is essential for terrestrial biodiversity conservation.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Partitioning beta diversity of dry and hot valley vegetation in the Nujiang River in Southwest China

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2023
The formation and continued maintenance of beta diversity are essential factors contributing to the effective conservation of plant community biodiversity and sustainable development of ecosystem functions.

Environmental filtering underpins the island species—area relationship in a subtropical anthropogenic archipelago

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, 2019
Numerous mechanisms have been proposed to explain the island species–area relationship (ISAR), including the passive sampling effect, the habitat diversity effect, ecological drift and a group of mechanisms jointly termed environmental filtering (or ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Intercontinental trends in functional and phylogenetic structure of stream fish assemblages

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2019
Understanding of community assembly has been improved by phylogenetic and trait‐based approaches, yet there is little consensus regarding the relative importance of alternative mechanisms and few studies have been done at large geographic and ...

Removing subordinate species in a biodiversity experiment to mimic observational field studies

open access: yesGrassland Research, 2022
Background Positive effects of plant species richness on community biomass in biodiversity experiments are often stronger than those from observational field studies.

Carbon and Nutrients from Organic Residues Modulate the Dynamics of Prokaryotic and Fungal Communities

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Inputs of carbon (C) and nutrients from organic residues may select specific microbes and shape the soil microbial community. However, little is known about the abiotic filtering of the same residues with different nutrient concentrations applied to the ...

Tool for the identification and implementation of Environmental Indicators in Ports (TEIP) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, the concept of environmental indicator is reviewed as a relevant element used in the environmental management of any organisation. The importance of this element within an Environmental Management System (EMS) is also justified.
