Process Optimization and Application of Lipase Immobilized on Phenol Amino Modified MCM-41

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In order to construct a new catalytic system of immobilized lipase and improve the stability of enzyme, the phenol amino modified ordered mesoporous material (MCM-41) was introduced for the study of lipase immobilization.

A new approach to evaluate immobilization of β-galactosidase on Eupergit® C: structural, kinetic, and thermal characterization

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2014
This study aimed to evaluate β-galactosidase immobilization. For this purpose, the ionic strength of the buffer, reaction time, amount of the immobilization support, and pH were evaluated by a central composite design. Assay 8, which consisted of 1.5 mol

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

A Review of Enzyme Immobilization Methods and Critical Parameters for Evaluating Immobilized Enzymes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences
‌Enzymes, natural biocatalysts with high catalytic efficiency, are essential in numerous biological and industrial processes. However, their inherent instability and sensitivity to environmental conditions often limit their direct application.

Paper surface modification strategies employing N-SBA-15/polymer composites in bioanalytical sensor design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, different paper surface modification strategies were compared to obtain an amine functionalized SBA-15 (N-SBA-15) composite for paper-based device development. The synthesized N-SBA-15 was characterized by N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherm,

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

Enzyme immobilization: an update [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Biology, 2013
Compared to free enzymes in solution, immobilized enzymes are more robust and more resistant to environmental changes. More importantly, the heterogeneity of the immo-bilized enzyme systems allows an easy recovery of both enzymes and products, multiple re-use of enzymes, continuous operation of enzymatic processes, rapid termination of reactions, and ...
