Key signalling nodes in mammary gland development and cancer: the snail1-twist1 conspiracy in malignant breast cancer progression [PDF]
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and despite significant advances in diagnosing and treating it, metastatic spread of cancer cells results in a high mortality rate. Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is an embryonic program in

A superhydrophobic 3D cell culture platform enables rapid and consistent formation of heterotypic tumor–stroma clusters, and reveals how physiological shear conditions influence metastatic signaling. Mechanical stimulation of cancer‐associated fibroblasts promotes sustained cytokine secretion and survival‐promoting pathways, showing how multicellular ...

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

A key role for E-cadherin in intestinal homeostasis and Paneth cell maturation.
BackgroundE-cadherin is a major component of adherens junctions. Impaired expression of E-cadherin in the small intestine and colon has been linked to a disturbed intestinal homeostasis and barrier function.

TGF-beta 1-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and therapeutic intervention in diabetic nephropathy [PDF]
Background/Aims: Epithelial-to-mesenchymal cell transformation (EMT) is the trans-differentiation of tubular epithelial cells into myofibroblasts, an event underlying progressive chronic kidney disease in diabetes, resulting in fibrosis.

This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

CDC42 and Rac1 control different actin-dependent processes in the Drosophila wing disc epithelium. [PDF]
Cdc42 and Rac1 are members of the rho family of small guanosinetriphosphatases and are required for a diverse set of cytoskeleton-membrane interactions in different cell types.

Variable Response to Chemotherapeutics by a Subpopulation of MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cells [PDF]
Several different morphologies can be observed in a population of MCF-7 breast cancer cells, but the typical epithelial morphology vastly predominates. After treatment with the chemotherapeutic doxorubicin, the proportion of abnormal morphologies greatly
