Ovarian cancer serum biomarker discovery using proteomics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Ovarian cancer is a lethal gynaecological malignancy which is known as the silent killer. It has a poor prognosis due to the lack of major symptoms in early stage disease and hence its late detection.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Effect of different treatment modalities on the prognosis of stage IV epithelial ovarian cancer: analysis of the SEER database

open access: yesBMC Women's Health
Background The prognosis of advanced ovarian cancer is often poor. Although there are several treatment options for stage IV epithelial ovarian cancer, it is not clear which treatment will benefit the patient’s prognosis. We conducted an analysis using ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Single‐cell transcriptomes reveal heterogeneity of high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, 2021
Background High‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) is the most common and aggressive histotype of epithelial ovarian cancer. The heterogeneity and molecular basis of this disease remain incompletely understood.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Modelling neoplastic progression in epithelial ovarian cancer

open access: yes, 2010
A national screening programme could significantly reduce mortality from epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). The biological events that occur in the early stages of development of EOCs remain poorly understood, thus hindering the discovery of biomarkers ...
