Epoxide hydrolase and hepatocarcinogenesis
Trends in Pharmacological Sciences, 1981is commonly understood as a nonsynergistic or non-potentiating combination, whereas 'overadditive' is taken as synergism, also expressed as potentiation. The dose-additive method·'·" Table a) by differentiation of additive from overadditive effects allows conclusions about the mechanism of action of A and B.

Epoxide hydrolase activity of Streptomyces strains
Journal of Biotechnology, 2000The discovery of epoxide hydrolases within a Streptomyces sp. strain collection is described. Screening was performed in 96 well microtiter plates using a modified 4-(p-nitrobenzyl)pyridine assay with styrene oxide, 1,2-epoxy-hexane or 3-phenyl ethylglycidate (3-PEG) as substrates. Out of 120 strains investigated, S. antibioticus Tü4, S.

Spectrophotometric Substrates for Cytosolic Epoxide Hydrolase
Analytical Biochemistry, 1994In this study, we demonstrate the utility of a broad class of spectrophotometric substrates for the assay of cytosolic epoxide hydrolase purified from murine liver. These substrates, epoxy esters or carbonates, cyclize spontaneously upon or during hydrolysis of the epoxide functionality.

Epoxide Hydrolase in Human Fetal Liver
Pharmacology, 1983Epoxide hydrolase activity towards styrene oxide was measured in the microsomal fraction of 20 human fetal livers. The enzymatic activity was 5.60 +/- 0.52 nmol/min/mg (mean +/- SE) which is about 40% of the previously reported value in human adult liver microsomes. No relation between enzymatic activity and fetal age was observed.

Soluble epoxide hydrolase and ischemic cardiomyopathy
International Journal of Cardiology, 2012The development of cardiovascular disease has been linked to lowered levels of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) in the cardiovascular system. Ischemic cardiomyopathy is caused by atherosclerotic lesions in multi-coronary arteries especially diffusive lesions, which can lead to severe myocardial dysfunction, heart enlargement, heart failure, or ...

Metabolism of epoxidized phosphatidylcholine by phospholipase A2 and epoxide hydrolase
Lipids, 1981AbstractThe isolation and measurement of phospholipid epoxides as major peroxidation products in biomembrane preparations prompted an investigation of enzymatic mechanisms which may be responsible for their elimination. Analysis of microsomal epoxide hydrolase and phospholipase A2 activity against a phospholipid epoxide commonly encountered in tissues ...

Epoxide hydrolase — polymorphism and role in toxicology
Toxicology Letters, 2000Microsomal epoxide hydrolase is a critical biotransformation enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of a broad array of xenobiotic epoxide substrates to more polar diol metabolites. The gene has been shown previously to exhibit polymorphism, including variation in the coding region leading to amino acid substitutions at positions 113 (Y/H) and 139 (H/R).

The role of soluble epoxide hydrolase in preeclampsia
Medical Hypotheses, 2017Preeclampsia is a serious complication of pregnancy characterized by the development of vasospasm, hypertension and often associated with proteinuria after the 20th week of gestation. Because termination of pregnancy results in the most efficacious resolution of preeclampsia, it is a leading cause of premature delivery worldwide.
