The digital stethoscope: Why Switzerland's Electronic Health Record requires citizen testing

open access: yesSwiss Medical Weekly
Switzerland's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system faces a critical adoption crisis: less than 2% of the population has opened an account despite years of investment. To understand this failure from the citizen's perspective, we launched the first “

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Quantitative comparison of different iron forms in the temporal cortex of Alzheimer patients and control subjects

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
We present a quantitative study of different molecular iron forms found in the temporal cortex of Alzheimer (AD) patients. Applying the methodology we developed in our previous work, we quantify the concentrations of non-heme Fe(III) by Electron ...

Computational identification of Ga-vacancy related electron paramagnetic resonance centers in $\beta$-Ga$_2$O$_3$

open access: yes, 2019
A combined experimental/theoretical study of the EPR in irradiated $\beta$-Ga$_2$O$_3$ is presented. Four EPR spectra, two $S=1/2$ and two $S=1$, are observed after high-energy proton or electron irradiation.

Moving Difference (MDIFF) Non-adiabatic Rapid Sweep (NARS) EPR of Copper(II) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Non-adiabatic rapid sweep (NARS) EPR spectroscopy has been introduced for application to nitroxide-labeled biological samples (Kittell et al., 2011).

Improved Systemic Immunochemotherapy Employing an Oxaliplatin‐TLR7/8 Agonist Prodrug Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A platinum(IV) prodrug is developed to systemically deliver the TLR7/8 agonist gardiquimod. Tumor‐targeting is mediated by an albumin‐binding maleimide, which limits premature complex activation. Ox‐Gardi‐Mal accumulates specifically in the tumor, where it activates the immune system.

Seasonal and spatial patterns of municipal solid waste composition in Hungary within the context of extended producer responsibility

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
This study investigates seasonal and regional patterns in municipal solid waste (MSW) composition in Hungary from autumn 2022 to spring 2025, focusing on plastics regulated by the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system and the Deposit Return ...

Targeting Peptostreptococcus anaerobius with an Iron‐Based Nanozyme Reverses Ferroptosis Resistance and Enhances Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An iron‐based nanozyme selectively eliminates intratumoral P. anaerobius while catalytically generating ROS to induce ferroptosis, synergistically suppressing colorectal cancer growth and activating anti‐tumor immunity through immunogenic cell death. ABSTRACT The intratumoral microbiota is a critical determinant of therapeutic outcomes in colorectal ...

The g-Strained EPR Line Shape of Transition-Ion Complexes and Metalloproteins: Four Decades of Misunderstanding and Its Consequences

open access: yesMolecules
Analysis of the EPR of dilute transition-ion complexes and metalloproteins in random phases, such as frozen solutions, powders, glasses, and gels, requires a model for the spectral ‘powder’ shape.

Oxygen vacancies in Ru/TiO2 - drivers of low-temperature CO2 methanation assessed by multimodal operando spectroscopy

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Hydrogenation of CO2 is very attractive for transforming this greenhouse gas into valuable high energy density compounds. In this work, we developed a highly active and stable Ru/TiO2 catalyst for CO2 methanation prepared by a solgel method that
