Arbitrage-Free Pricing Before and Beyond Probabilities

open access: yes, 2013
"Fundamental theorem of asset pricing" roughly states that absence of arbitrage opportunity in a market is equivalent to the existence of a risk-neutral probability. We give a simple counterexample to this oversimplified statement.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

On problems of the lens of the eye radiation dose monitoring

open access: yesРадиационная гигиена, 2016
According to results of in-depth studies, the risk of the radiation-induced cataract is higher than it was considered earlier. In April 2011, ICRP released a statement on the tissue reactions.

On the density and the structure of the Peirce-like formulae [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2008
Within the language of propositional formulae built on implication and a finite number of variables $k$, we analyze the set of formulae which are classical tautologies but not intuitionistic (we call such formulae - Peirce's formulae).

Introducing the ORION Statement, a CONSORT equivalent for infection control studies

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Infection, 2007
The ORION statement (guidelines for transparent reporting of Outbreak Reports and Intervention studies Of Nosocomial infection) is a CONSORT equivalent for infection control studies. 1,2 It aims to improve standards of research and publication in infection control studies.

Though Forced, Still Valid: Psychometric Equivalence of Forced-Choice and Single-Statement Measures [PDF]

open access: yesOrganizational Research Methods, 2019
Forced-choice (FC) measures are gaining popularity as an alternative assessment format to single-statement (SS) measures. However, a fundamental question remains to be answered: Do FC and SS instruments measure the same underlying constructs? In addition, FC measures are theorized to be more cognitively challenging, so how would this feature influence

Equivalent teleparallel theories in diagonalizable spacetimes: Comment on "Metric-affine approach to teleparallel gravity"

open access: yes, 2013
It is well known that the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity yields the same vacuum solutions as general relativity does, which ensures that this particular teleparallel model is in good agreement with experiments. A less known result concerns

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
