Platelet kinetics in the pulmonary microcirculation in vivo assessed by intravital microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Growing evidence supports the substantial pathophysiological impact of platelets on the development of acute lung injury. Methods for studying these cellular mechanisms in vivo are not present yet.

The Effect of Highly Hydroxylated Fullerenol C60(OH)36 on Human Erythrocyte Membrane Organization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The mechanism of the interaction of highly hydroxylated fullerenol C60(OH)36 with erythrocyte membranes was studied by electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR) of stearic acid derivatives labeled with a nitroxyl radical at C-12 or C-16 and with a ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

ライフサイクル・エンジニアリングの覚書 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
© 2015 The Authors. Human erythrocytes are highly specialized enucleate cells that are involved in providing efficient gas transport. Erythrocytes have been extensively studied both experimentally and by mathematical modeling in recent years.

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Genomics‐led approach to drug testing in models of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
GA text Genomic data from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma patients and preclinical models were used to inform a targeted drug screen. Selected compounds were tested in 2D and 3D cultures of UPS cell lines. A combination of trametinib and infigratinib was synergistic in the majority of UPS cell lines tested, which was further confirmed in an ex ...

A PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF ANESTHETIC AGENTS ON THERHEOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF GLYCATED ERYTHROCYTES

open access: yesAnales (Asociación Física Argentina), 2021
This paper presents a preliminary study of the effects of the anesthetics propofol, remifentanil, and vecuronium bromideon the rheological properties of glycated erythrocytes in vitro, modeling the glycation by hyperglycemia observed in ...

Evaluation and modification of tumor cell isolation techniques from malignant effusions for rapid drug sensitivity testing

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐small cell lung cancer targeted treatment is limited to a few known genetic alterations, with few alternatives in advanced treatment lines. To direct treatment decisions by drug sensitivity testing (DST), this study compared several methods for tumor cell isolation from malignant effusions, pointing to repeated CD45+ cell depletion for effective ...
