Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Дослідження амінокислот стебел, листя та квіток лізіантусу Рассела

open access: yesAnnals of Mechnikov's Institute
Introduction. Amino acids have an immunomodulatory, antidepressant effect, they are components of collagen, reduce the level of triglycerides in the blood, take an active part in the synthesis and assimilation of vitamins, etc. Natural amino acids have a

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Identification of Amino Acids That Regulate Angiogenesis and Alter Pathogenesis of a Mouse Model of Choroidal Neovascularization

open access: yes
Background: Metabolic stress from amino acid (AA) insufficiency is increasingly linked to pathological angiogenesis, but specific essential AA (EAA) roles remain undefined.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Evaluation of the nutritional, in vitro protein digestive and bioactive characteristics of a quinoa-based protein beverage

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study investigated the nutritional, digestive properties and potential health effects of a quinoa-based protein beverage (QBPB). In terms of nutrition, QBPB demonstrated superior nutritional estimates than a commercial oat-based liquid beverage ...

Uptake, transport and redistribution of amino nitrogen in woody plants

open access: yes, 2015
Nitrogen (N) is the main limiting macronutrient for plant growth and N deficits lead to severe negative effects in plant metabolism and development.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
