Exploiting synthetic lethal vulnerabilities for cancer therapy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Synthetic lethality refers to a combination of two or more genetic events (typically affecting different genes) in which the co-occurrence of the events results in cell or organismal lethality, but the cell or organism remains viable when only one of the events occurs.

Sugar‐sensing swodkoreceptors and swodkocrine signaling

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Sugar‐sensing swodkoreceptors that trigger swodkocrine signaling. Abstract Sugars are one of the major metabolites and are essential for nucleic acid synthesis and energy production. In addition, sugars can act as signaling molecules. To study sugar signaling at the systemic level, there is an urgent need to systematically identify sugar‐sensing ...

Induction of Cell Death by Combined Treatment with Photosensitizer‐Chitosan Nanoparticles and the Ferroptosis Inducer RSL3 in Breast Cancer Cell Lines

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that combination of phosphosensitizer‐conjugated chitosan nanoparticles and ferroptosis inducer RSL3 increases cell death in mesenchymal breast cancer cells. Data suggests that this is attributed to variations in ferroptosis‐related protein expression, lipid peroxydation and mitochondrial function.

Genes Associated with the Immune System Affected by Ionizing Radiation and Estrogen in an Experimental Breast Cancer Model

open access: yesBiology
Breast cancer is a global health issue that, when in the metastasis stage, is characterized by the lack of estrogen receptor-α, the progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth receptor expressions.

Expression profile and prognostic role of sex hormone receptors in gastric cancer

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2012
Background Increasing interest has been devoted to the expression and possible role of sex hormone receptors in gastric cancer, but most of these findings are controversial. In the present study, the expression profile of sex hormone receptors in gastric
