Evading the Goldstone theorem [PDF]
Peter W. Higgs describes in detail his interest from 1960 in the work of Nambu and Goldstone and the background events leading to the papers of 1964 that showed how one can evade the Goldstone theorem using a gauge theory. He also discusses how these ideas have been developed by others to culminate in the electroweak theory of the Standard Model.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Aiming to address the problem of pursuit and interception for spacecraft using multiple evasion strategies, a pursuit strategy involving the use of an interactive multiple-model filter (IMM) in a pursuit–evasion game is considered, where the Evader ...

The CRISPR-Cas9 system has paved the way for realizing gene-editing, but its main weakness lies in its potential for off-target effects. Studies into phages reveal that they express “anti-CRISPR” proteins which if harnessed, could provide us with the solution to this lack of control.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Solution of a Linear Pursuit-Evasion Differential Game with Closed and Convex Terminal Set
A linear two-person zero-sum pursuit-evasion differential game is considered. Control functions of players are subject to integral constraints. Terminal set is a closed convex subset of The Pursuer tries to bring the state of the system to the terminal ...

Differential game with many pursuers when controls are subjected to coordinate-wise integral constraints [PDF]
In this paper, we study a differential game of many pursuers and one evader in R2. The motions of all players are simple. An integral constraint is imposed on each coordinate of the control functions of players.

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Optimal Evading Strategies for Two-Pursuer/One-Evader Problems
Pursuit–evasion problems involving two pursuers and one evader are presented and analyzed. Two distinct scenarios differing in the type of information that the pursuers have about the evader’s stra...
