Photodynamic Therapy Targeting Macrophages Using IRDye700DX-Liposomes Decreases Experimental Arthritis Development [PDF]

Pharmaceutics, 2021
Macrophages play a crucial role in the initiation and progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Liposomes can be used to deliver therapeutics to macrophages by exploiting their phagocytic ability.

Alleviation of experimental arthritis in SKG mice through Nr4a1 agonization [PDF]

Frontiers in Immunology
IntroductionRheumatoid arthritis (RA), a chronic autoimmune disease, is characterized by CD4+ T cell-mediated synovial inflammation, with T helper (Th)17 cells being implicated in RA pathogenesis.

Porphyromonas gingivalis peptidylarginine deiminase, a key contributor in the pathogenesis of experimental periodontal disease and experimental arthritis. [PDF]

PLoS ONE, 2014
ObjectivesTo investigate the suggested role of Porphyromonas gingivalis peptidylarginine deiminase (PAD) in the relationship between the aetiology of periodontal disease and experimentally induced arthritis and the possible association between these two ...

B effector cells in rheumatoid arthritis and experimental arthritis [PDF]

Autoimmunity, 2012
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune immune disease affecting approximately 1% of the population. There has been a renewed interest in the role of B cells in rheumatoid arthritis based on the evidence that B cell depletion therapy is effective in the treatment of disease. This review summarizes the current knowledge of the mechanisms by which B

EXPERIMENTAL ARTHRITIS IN THE RABBIT. A CONTRIBUTION TO THE PATHOGENY OF ARTHRITIS IN RHEUMATIC FEVER [PDF]

Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1915
By a process of sensitization described it was found possible to cause arthritis in rabbits constantly after one intravenous injection of the streptococcus. This reaction is specific. By intravenous inoculation, without previous sensitization, of the streptococcus used in these experiments it was possible to cause ...

Analysis of combined deficiency of interleukin-1 and -6 versus single deficiencies in TNF-mediated arthritis and systemic bone loss

Bone & Joint Research, 2022
Aims: Insufficient treatment response in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients requires novel treatment strategies to halt disease progression. The potential benefit of combination of cytokine-inhibitors in RA is still unclear and needs further ...

Experimental bedsonial arthritis [PDF]

Arthritis & Rheumatism, 1973
AbstractA bedsonia isolated from the joint of a patient with Reiter's syndrome produced arthritis when injected into the knees of Macaca mulatta or New Zealand white rabbits. The monkeys developed an acute self‐limited arthritis that resolved within 11 to 49 days. Symptoms were limited to the injected joints. Reinoculation of the same joints produced a

Hemokinin-1 as a Mediator of Arthritis-Related Pain via Direct Activation of Primary Sensory Neurons

Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
The tachykinin hemokinin-1 (HK-1) is involved in immune cell development and inflammation, but little is known about its function in pain. It acts through the NK1 tachykinin receptor, but several effects are mediated by a yet unidentified target ...
