Stability of liquid ridges on chemical micro- and nanostripes

open access: yes, 2007
We analyze the stability of sessile filaments (ridges) of nonvolatile liquids versus pearling in the case of externally driven flow along a chemical stripe within the framework of the thin film approximation.

Radiotherapy Delivery in Deep Inspiration for Pediatric Patients—Final Results of the Phase II Feasibility Study TEDDI

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The TEDDI trial tested the feasibility and reproducibility of deep‐inspiration breath‐hold (DIBH) in pediatric patients referred for radiotherapy. This report presents final results, including patient‐reported outcomes (PRO) and dosimetric comparison of DIBH and free‐breathing (FB).

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Organization, stability, and expression of the genome

open access: yesMolecular Biology of the Cell, 2014
At this year's ASCB meeting, the dynamic genome took center stage. Three Minisymposia carried this thread from start to finish, revealing the impacts of cell biology on all aspects of the genome. New concepts about the physical nature and organization of chromatin were presented, highlighting cutting-edge techniques such as high-throughput chromosome ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Screening Reference Genes for Wine Grapes for Cultivation Under Low-Temperature Stress

open access: yesHorticulturae
The harsh, cold, and dry winters in northern China necessitate burying wine grapevines (Vitis vinifera) for winter protection. In this study, we screened for stably expressed reference genes in wine grapes (V. vinifera) under low-temperature stress at 4 °

Profiling of long non-coding RNAs identifies LINC00958 and LINC01296 as candidate oncogenes in bladder cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Aberrant expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been regarded as a critical component in bladder cancer (BC) and lncRNAs have been associated with BC development and progression although their overall expression and functional significance is ...

Whirlin increases TRPV1 channel expression and cellular stability

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 2016
The expression and function of TRPV1 are influenced by its interaction with cellular proteins. Here, we identify Whirlin, a cytoskeletal PDZ-scaffold protein implicated in hearing, vision and mechanosensory transduction, as an interacting partner of TRPV1. Whirlin associates with TRPV1 in cell lines and in primary cultures of rat nociceptors.

Paranode stability requires UNC5B expression by oligodendrocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
ABSTRACTIn the mature CNS, netrin-1 is expressed by neurons and oligodendrocytes and implicated in the stability of axo-oligodendroglial paranodal junctions. Here we report that the netrin receptor UNC5B is highly expressed by mature oligodendrocytes and enriched at paranodes.
