Small-Scale Extrusion of Corn Masa By-Products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Corn masa by-product streams are high in fiber and are amenable for utilization in livestock feed rations. This approach is a potentially viable alternative to landfilling, the traditional disposal method for these processing residues.

Highly Efficient Air Sterilization via Low‐Temperature Interfacial Evaporation in Inductively Heated Superhydrophilic Ferromagnetic Filters

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The first low‐temperature interfacial evaporation air sterilization technology is presented. It is based on a superhydrophilic ferromagnetic micro/nano‐structured stainless‐steel filter, showing ultra‐efficient inductive heating. This technology has demonstrated over 99.6% of SARS‐CoV‐2 and RSV elimination at temperatures in the 60–80 °C range.

SLC6A14 Drives Mitochondrial Fusion and Oxidative Phosphorylation to Promote Cancer Stemness and Early‐Onset of Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Elevated levels of the plasticizer DEHP associate with earlier breast cancer diagnosis. DEHP enhances glutamine‐powered energy production via the transporter SLC6A14 and pushes mitochondria toward fusion, driving tumor initiation by boosting cancer stemness. Blocking SLC6A14 lowers stemness, slows tumors, and improves chemotherapy response.
