Experimental study on hydraulic fracture of gravelly soil core
The hydraulic fracture tests on two kinds of graded gravelly soils are carried out by using the improved triaxial apparatus. For the hydraulic fracture pressures on the gravelly soils, the soil properties and confining pressure are the key influence ...

Fatigue failure mechanism analysis of 1Cr17Ni2 stainless steel blades ground by an abrasive belt
Fatigue failure, as the main failure form of aero-engine blades, has a direct impact on the reliability and service life of aviation equipment. In order to improve the service performance of machined blades, it is necessary to understand the failure ...

Propagation Failure in Excitable Media
We study a mechanism of pulse propagation failure in excitable media where stable traveling pulse solutions appear via a subcritical pitchfork bifurcation. The bifurcation plays a key role in that mechanism.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

The field observations show that the existing widely-used constitutive models tend to underestimate the settlement of dams higher than 200 m. One of the main reasons is the separation of load-induced deformation and creep in such models and the ...

Influences of vertical drainage wells on stability of expansive soil canals in North Xinjiang
The water conveyance canal in North Xinjiang is a periodic water supply canal, and the "wetting-drying" circulation caused by canal water leakage may significantly reduce the strength of expansive soils and further affect the stability of the expansive ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
