Comparison of the Kinematics Following Gait Perturbation in Individuals Who Did or Did Not Undergo Total Knee Replacement

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
We aimed to compare the spatiotemporal parameters and joint kinematics during unperturbed and perturbed gait between individuals with osteoarthritis (OA) who did or did not undergo total knee replacement (TKR) one year post a baseline evaluation.

SisFall: A Fall and Movement Dataset

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2017
Research on fall and movement detection with wearable devices has witnessed promising growth. However, there are few publicly available datasets, all recorded with smartphones, which are insufficient for testing new proposals due to their absence of ...

Similarities in Populations of Star Clusters

open access: yes, 2012
We compare the observed mass functions and age distributions of star clusters in six well-studied galaxies: the Milky Way, Magellanic Clouds, M83, M51, and Antennae.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Grain loss during winter wheat harvesting (review)

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
Grain loss during winter wheat harvesting (review) Harvesting is an important stage of grain production. It’s necessary to harvest grain crops with a minimum loss and better quality, with a minimum technical and after-harvesting energy costs.

Investigating the emotional content of older adults engaging in a fall prevention exercise program integrated with dance movement therapy: a preliminary study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2023
Fall prevention interventions for older adults have primarily focused on the physical aspects, overlooking the emotional aspects inherent in falls. This qualitative study presents a novel fall prevention intervention that integrates physical therapy ...

A Comparison of Methods for Determining the Age Distribution of Star Clusters: Application to the Large Magellanic Cloud

open access: yes, 2010
The age distribution of star clusters in nearby galaxies plays a crucial role in evaluating the lifetimes and disruption mechanisms of the clusters. Two very different results have been found recently for the age distribution chi(t) of clusters in the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Vitamins and selenium in bulk tank milk of organic and conventional dairy farms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Vitamins in milk are important for the human consumer, the calf and the cow. They are also important for the dairy industry because some of them affect the risk for off-flavour.
