Histochemical study of the hepatopancreas in adult females of the pink-shrimp Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis Latreille, 1817

open access: yesActa Histochemica, 2014
This study provides histochemical data of the hepatopancreatic cells of adult female pink-shrimp (Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis) at two different developmental stages (those with developed gonads and those with exhausted gonads). The F. brasiliensis females were collected in seawater off the Guarapari coast, Espirito Santo, Brazil.

Discordance in the identification of juvenile pink shrimp ( Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis and F. paulensis : Family Penaeidae): An integrative approach using morphology, morphometry and barcoding [PDF]

open access: yesFisheries Research, 2016
Abstract It is most difficult to identify the coexistent commercial pink shrimps Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis and Farfantepenaeus paulensis during the juvenile stage, when secondary sexual characteristics are still in the developing period. Differences in width and/or shape of the dorsal furrow on pleonite six has traditionally been the primary ...

The effect of stocking density on the transport of pink shrimp Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis (Crustacea: Decapoda), as live bait for sport fishing in Brazil

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2014
The capture of juvenile shrimp as live bait for sport fishing has intensified, as has the trade of shrimp in different locations. The transport of shrimp to regions, other than those in which they are captured, is often poorly performed due to the lack ...

The development of new techniques has led to the intensification of aquaculture regarded to rearing of different species. Therefore, there is a tendency to increase the generation of nitrogen compounds in these cropping ...

Trophic interactions and metal transfer in marine ecosystems driven by the Peruvian scallop Argopecten purpuratus aquaculture

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 53, Issue 2, Page 452-474, April 2022., 2022
Abstract This study investigates the trophic interactions and As and Cd transfer along seven marine ecosystems in Peru. Five of these ecosystems are driven by aquaculture of the Peruvian scallop Argopecten purpuratus. A southward increased gradient of δ15N was observed among the three examined regions along the Peruvian coast.

Effect of water salinity on the oxidative system of juveniles of the North Atlantic white shrimp Litopenaeus setiferus reared in biofloc technology

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 258-270, February 2022., 2022
Abstract This study evaluated the effect of biofloc technology (BFT) at 3 (lsBFT) and 35 (hsBFT) practice salinity units (psu) on the zootechnical performance, oxygen consumption, antioxidant activity, and oxidative damage of Litopenaeus setiferus juveniles reared in outdoor tanks.

Non-chromatographic arsenic speciation analyses in wild shrimp (Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis) using functionalized magnetic iron-nanoparticles

open access: yesFood Chemistry, 2021
A new iron-magnetic nanomaterial functionalized with organophosphorus compound was used as solid-phase for arsenic speciation analysis in seafood samples by ICP-MS. The procedure was optimized using chemometric tools and the variables pH = 4.0, 15 min extraction time, and 20 mg of mass of material were obtained as the optimum point.
