Presence of the Pink shrimp Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis (Latreille, 1817) in the coastal lagoons of Uruguay (Crustacea: Decapoda: Penaeoidea) [PDF]

open access: yesNauplius, 2022
Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis (Latreille, 1817) and Farfantepenaeus paulensis (Pérez Farfante, 1967), commonly known as pink shrimps, are two commercially important penaeid species caught by artisanal and industrial fisheries in the Southwestern Atlantic ...

Desempenho de pós-larvas do camarão-rosa Farfantepenaeus paulensis alimentadas com diferentes frequências durante a fase de berçário = Performance of Farfantepenaeus paulensis shrimp postlarvae fed in different feeding frequencies during nursery rearing

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2008
Este estudo avaliou os efeitos da frequência de arraçoamento na sobrevivência e crescimento do camarão-rosa Farfantepenaeus paulensis criado durante a fase de berçário primário.

Spermatozoal capacitation of pink shrimp Farfantepenaeus paulensis [PDF]

open access: yesAquaculture, 2014
The present study evaluated spermatozoal capacitation in Farfantepenaeus paulensis. This process has direct applications in aquaculture, and it consists of the ionic, biochemical and morphological changes during the period that the spermatophore is stored or adhered to the thelycum. These changes make the spermatozoa capable of fertilization.

White spot syndrome virus host range and impact on transmission

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1843-1860, September 2022., 2022
Abstract White spot syndrome virus (WSSV), the etiological agent of white spot disease (WSD), is a significant pathogen affecting shrimp farming industry worldwide. White spot syndrome virus is a generalist virus mainly infecting decapod crustaceans. The aims of this review were to: (1) Re‐evaluate and update the status of reported WSSV host and vector

Recent developments in male fertility evaluation, sperm cryopreservation and artificial fertilisation, and their potential application to decapod crustacean aquaculture

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 848-889, March 2022., 2022
Abstract To maximise productivity, a better understanding of the underlying causes of subfertility that lead to inferior offspring and high mortality is imperative. In decapod crustaceans, most research has focused on female reproductive performance, with little attention given to male fertility.

Effect of water salinity on the oxidative system of juveniles of the North Atlantic white shrimp Litopenaeus setiferus reared in biofloc technology

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 258-270, February 2022., 2022
Abstract This study evaluated the effect of biofloc technology (BFT) at 3 (lsBFT) and 35 (hsBFT) practice salinity units (psu) on the zootechnical performance, oxygen consumption, antioxidant activity, and oxidative damage of Litopenaeus setiferus juveniles reared in outdoor tanks.

Growth and feed utilization of the shrimp Farfantepenaeus paulensis fed diets containing different marine protein sources [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2004
Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets containing different protein sources (fish, squid and mussel meals and their combinations at the proportions of 40, 30 and 30% or 60, 20 and 20%) were fed for 28 days to Farfantepenaeus paulensis.
