Saturated and Unsaturated Fats [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1959
The effects of supplementary oils--saturated and unsaturated--were examined in groups of cholesterol-fed cockerels. Unsaturated oils failed to suppress hypercholesterolemia and atherogenesis. When various oils and fats high in oleic acid were added to the mash, slight lowering of serum cholesterol occurred.

Development and optimization of oleogel made with soy protein isolate and xanthan gum using emulsion template approach and its comparison with solid fats

open access: yesHeliyon
This study aims to develop oleogel as a potential substitute for solid fats in the diet. A novel combination of unmodified Soy Protein Isolate (SPI) and Xanthan Gum (XG) have been utilized to gelate sunflower oil, using an emulsion template approach. The

Stability of unsaturated methyl esters of fatty acids on surfaces

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1972
The stability of unsaturated methyl esters is greater when they are adsorbed on silica gel than when a glass surface is used. Storage of small samples adsorbed on silica gel may be a convenient addition to conventional methods of protecting labile fats ...

The protection of the unsaturated fatty acids of dried grass and sunflower seed against biohydrogenation by rumen micro-organisms : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science in Animal Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Ryegrass which had been dried and treated with HCHO was incubated with the rumen contents of a pasture-grazed cow. The protein in the grass was protected from degradation by the rumen microbes.

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

One‐Step Microfluidic Manufactured Fucose‐Decorated Sweetosomes Choose the Time and the Road for Their Intracellular Journey to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Sweetosomes, a new class of fucose‐decorated liposomes, are developed via a one‐step microfluidic process without surface chemistry. This study elucidates their main caveolae‐mediated entry and distinct endosomal trafficking. These nanostructures demonstrate superior endosomal escape, organelle acidity modulation, and prolonged plasma persistence ...
