Comparison of the Fatty Acid Profiles of Sow and Goat Colostrum

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Currently, the utilization of hyperprolific sows has stimulated the search for supplements aimed at enhancing piglet survival, as these sows yield more offspring than they can adequately feed with their colostrum production. In contrast, intensive goat farming often yields surplus colostrum, thus necessitating its removal, since kids are exclusively ...

Effects of fatty acids on inflammatory markers studied in vivo and in vitro

open access: yes, 2008
Inflammation involves interactions amongst many different cell types as a defense mechanism of the body. Inflammation is also involved in cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Dietary fatty acids modulate inflammatory cytokine production through activation of MAP kinases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have therapeutic effects in inflammatory diseases, however the specific mechanisms by which they exert these effects have not yet been defined.

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Serum myristic fatty acid negatively correlates with anti-inflammatory adiponectin/leptin ratio in obese adolescents: effects of long- term therapy

open access: yesO Mundo da Saúde, 2017
Obesity is related to metabolic disorders partially mediated by inflammatory state. In this way, adiponectin/leptin ratio is considered an anti-inflammatory biomarker related to cardiovascular risks. Evidence suggest that decrease in saturated fatty acid

Ascorbic acid content, fatty acid composition and nutritional value of the neglected vegetable Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum L., Apiaceae)

open access: yes, 2014
Smyrnium olusatrum, known as Alexanders, is a horticultural crop widely cultivated and eaten by the Romans, then marginalised as a consequence of direct competition with celery (Apium graveolens).

A Molecular Shielding Strategy to Develop Low Protein Binding, Renal Clearable Pan‐Cancer Near‐Infrared Probes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecular shielding strategy to convert “protein‐sticky” and “non‐tumor specific” clinical ICG dye, into a “low protein binding” and “tumor‐targeting” dye with prolonged blood circulation and renal clearance is described. These shielded ICGs demonstrate strong tumor accumulation and optimal tissue clearance, resulting in high tumor‐to‐background ...

Comparison of the Nutritional Composition of Meat Products Derived from Croatian Indigenous Pig Breeds

open access: yesFoods
There is a growing interest in the preservation of indigenous pig breeds, as they serve as a valuable genetic reserve. Pork meat products are widely consumed due to their desirable flavor, which is largely influenced by their chemical composition and the
