Comparison of neurological outcomes between out-of-hospital cardiac arrest due to anaphylaxis and cardiac causes: a nationwide population-based observational study

open access: yesBMJ Open
Objective To compare the neurological outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest due to anaphylaxis (OHCA-A) and cardiac causes (OHCA-C).Design Retrospective observational study.Setting Japanese nationwide dataset from 2012 to 2021.Participants In total,

Low admission serum albumin as prognostic determinant of 30-day case fatality and adverse functional outcome following acute ischemic stroke

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2013
INTRODUCTION: Over 80% of stroke deaths occur in low-income and middle-income regions of the world. Identification of predictors of mortality is vital so that prompt therapeutic measures could be instituted to improve outcome.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Association between pupillary examinations and prognosis in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest who underwent extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation: a retrospective multicentre cohort study

open access: yesAnnals of Intensive Care
Background In some cases of patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) who underwent extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR), negative pupillary light reflex (PLR) and mydriasis upon hospital arrival serve as common early indicator ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Fixed Dystonia of a Limb: Amputation Could Be a Favourable Outcome

open access: yesCureus
Fixed dystonia of limb is a rare and complex disorder characterized by abnormal, fixed posturing of a limb, often accompanied by chronic pain. Its etiology remains controversial, with debates surrounding psychogenic versus organic origins. We present the case of a 22-year-old female with a longstanding history of left foot deformity and progressively ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

IS ORGANIZATIONAL POLITICS DEVASTATING FOR FAVOURABLE EMPLOYEE OUTCOMES?

open access: yesİlköğretim Online, 2023
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship of employees’ perceptions of organizational politics and employee outcomes (turnover intentions, employee engagement, job satisfaction and counterproductive work behaviours) in an important yet neglected service sector-the higher education institutes.
