A growing body of evidence suggests that conscious visual awareness is not a prerequisite for human fear learning. For instance, humans can learn to be fearful of subliminal fear relevant images--images depicting stimuli thought to have been fear relevant in our evolutionary context, such as snakes, spiders, and angry human faces.

Early β adrenoceptor dependent time window for fear memory persistence in APPswe/PS1dE9 mice

In this study we demonstrate that 2 month old APPswe/PS1dE9 mice, a transgenic model of Alzheimer’s disease, exhibited intact short-term memory in Pavlovian hippocampal—dependent contextual fear learning task. However, their long-term memory was impaired.

Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
