Recent Developments in Sustainable Solubilization

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
We highlight several recent developments in sustainable solubilization. Particular attention is given to the use of bio‐based solvents derived from renewable resources, the strategic use of water as a solvent, and alternative, sustainable solubilizers such as hydrotropes.

Cassava Endophytic Bacteriome as Potential Biocontrol Agents Against Three Crop Phytopathogenic Fungi

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
Eighty‐four endophytic bacteria from cassava were assessed for antagonistic activity against phytopathogens Colletotrichum siamense, Colletotrichum sublineola and Phytophthora infestans infecting cassava, sorghum and potato, respectively. Fourteen endophytic bacteria exhibited antifungal activity against the three phytopathogens, of which four ...

An Engineered Microbial Consortium Provides Precursors for Fengycin Production by Bacillus subtilis

open access: yes
Fengycin has great potential for applications in biological control because of its biosafety and degradability. In this study, the addition of exogenous precursors increased fengycin production by Bacillus subtilis.

Analysis of Bacterial Wilt Management Strategies From the Dynamic Perspective of Environmental Adaptation Approaches of Ralstonia solanacearum

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
This review reframes bacterial wilt management by analysing control strategies through the lens of the pathogen's evolutionary, physiological and ecological adaptations. This mechanism‐based approach links pathogen traits to control efficacy, guiding the development of more durable solutions.

B. subtilis GS67 Protects C. elegans from Gram-Positive Pathogens via Fengycin-Mediated Microbial Antagonism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
SummaryStudies on Caenorhabditis elegans have provided detailed insight into host-pathogen interactions [1–7]. Usually, the E. coli strain OP50 is used as food source for laboratory studies, but recent work has shown that a variety of bacteria have ...

Calcium-induced conformational changes of the elicitor and membrane-active fengycin

open access: yes, 2012
Fengycin is a natural lipopeptide synthetized by Bacillus subtilis strains. It is characterized by strong antifungal and low hemolytic activities. It seems also play a role in the promoting of elicitor activities of other compounds.

Evaluating Native Bacillus Strains as Potential Biocontrol Agents against Tea Anthracnose Caused by Colletotrichum fructicola

open access: yesPlants
Anthracnose of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis), caused by Colletotrichum spp., poses a significant threat to both the yield and quality of tea production. To address this challenge, researchers have looked to the application of endophytic bacteria as a
