Microbial Community Shifts and Plant Performance Improvements Driven by Bacillus firmus in Pampa Agroecosystems

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
The study shows that Bacillus firmus‐based bionematicides modulate soil microbiota and enhance soybean growth in the Pampa biome. Effects vary by location and time, with increased beneficial bacteria, reduced fungi, and decreased root nematode infestation. Overall, B.

An in silico antifouling potential of fengycin, a cyclic lipopeptide produced by marine bacteria

open access: yesDiscover Oceans
Marine bacteria are recognized as predominant renewable resources of bioactive compounds as they possess unique biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) responsible for the production of bioactive molecules.

ACR3 as a Key Regulator Antimicrobial Lipopeptide Synthesis and Efflux in Bacillus velezensis HN‐1

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Lipopeptides are natural antibiotics produced by Bacillus velezensis. Mutation of acr3 led to the complete loss of antimicrobial activity. Following the biological assays for validation, we found ACR3 protein may serve as a master switch of lipopeptides synthesis regulation, and control transmembrane transport of lipopeptides by the ABC pathway ...

Enhancement of Surfactin and Fengycin Production byBacillus mojavensisA21: Application for Diesel Biodegradation [PDF]

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2017
This work concerns the study of the enhancement of surfactin and fengycin production byB. mojavensisA21 and application of the produced product in diesel biodegradation. The influences of the culture medium and cells immobilization were studied. The highest lipopeptides production was achieved after 72 hours of incubation in a culture medium containing

Interactions between Fengycin and Model Bilayers Quantified by Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Bacteria, particularly of the genus Bacillus, produce a wide variety of antifungal compounds. They act by affecting the lipid bilayers of fungal membranes, causing curvature-induced strain and eventual permeabilization.

Purification And Structural Characterization Of Fengycin Homologues Produced By Bacillus Subtilis Lsfm-05 Grown On Raw Glycerol.

open access: yes, 2015
Raw glycerol is a byproduct of biodiesel production that currently has low to negative value for biodiesel producers. One option for increasing the value of raw glycerol is to use it as a feedstock for microbial production.

Clarification of the Antagonistic Effect of the Lipopeptides Produced by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens BPD1 against Pyricularia oryzae via In Situ MALDI-TOF IMS Analysis

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
This study tried to clarify the antagonistic effect of the lipopeptides secreted by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain BPD1 (Ba-BPD1) against Pyricularia oryzae Cavara (PO).

A ‘Genome‐First’ Framework for Next‐Generation Bioinputs: From Functional Mining to Rational Synthetic Microbial Communities

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 5, May 2026.
I propose a ‘genome‐first’ framework to collapse the phenotypic bottleneck in bioinput discovery. By integrating multi‐layered genome mining and reverse ecology, this paradigm enables the rational design of stable synthetic microbial communities for a data‐driven and sustainable agricultural bioeconomy.

Phyllosphere Keystone Beneficial Specialists Enhance Yield in Nutrient Deficiency‐Resistant Sorghum Cultivars

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 2480-2493, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The phyllosphere, the aboveground interface between plant leaves and their microbial residents, plays a vital yet underappreciated role in crop productivity. While root‐ and soil‐associated microbiomes are well‐studied, the ecological assembly and yield‐related effects of host‐mediated phyllosphere microbial communities remain largely ...
