Overexpression of SIK2 Inhibits FGF2-dependent Müller Glial Reprogramming

open access: yesExperimed
Objective: Upon injury, Müller cells re-enter the cell cycle, acquire progenitor properties, and produce new retinal neurons in zebrafish. Proliferation is an essential step in retinal regeneration.

Atrophic Skeletal Muscle‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Transfer miR‐125a‐5p to Inhibit Bone Formation in Osteoporosis during Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A muscle‐bone endocrine pathway in aging is revealed in which extracellular vesicles released from atrophic skeletal muscle (Aged‐SKM‐EVs) inhibit bone formation. These EVs deliver miR‐125a‐5p to osteoblasts, thereby suppressing the SIRT7‐Sp7 signaling axis and osteogenic differentiation.

Disulfide bridge-dependent dimerization triggers FGF2 membrane translocation into the extracellular space

open access: yeseLife
Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) exits cells by direct translocation across the plasma membrane, a type I pathway of unconventional protein secretion. This process is initiated by phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2)-dependent formation of ...

FGF2 Is Protective Towards Cisplatin-Induced KGN Cell Toxicity by Promoting FTO Expression and Autophagy

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
It is widely known that chemotherapy-induced apoptosis of granulosa was the main reason for premature ovarian failure (POF). In addition, accumulating evidence has demonstrated that autophagy was involved in it.

FGF/heparin differentially regulates Schwann cell and olfactory ensheathing cell interactions with astrocytes: a role in astrocytosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
After injury, the CNS undergoes an astrocyte stress response characterized by reactive astrocytosis/proliferation, boundary formation, and increased glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG) expression. Previously,

OTUD6A in Airway Epithelial Cells Exacerbates Allergic Asthma by Promoting Airway Inflammation and Airway Remodeling Through Deubiquitination of hResistin/mRELMα

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates a novel mechanistic role of the deubiquitinase OTUD6A in asthma pathogenesis, uncovering its regulatory function in airway inflammation and airway remodeling through the stabilization of hResistin/mRELMα. This study offers a novel regulatory axis (OTUD6A‐hResistin/mRELMα) in asthma pathogenesis and OTUD6A inhibition as a potential

Role of the bone morphogenic protein pathway in developmental haemopoiesis and leukaemogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Myeloid leukaemias share the common characteristics of being stem cell-derived clonal diseases, characterised by excessive proliferation of one or more myeloid lineage.

Developmentally Inspired, Mechanical–Metabolic Dual Gradient Osteochondral Constructs Bridging Regeneration and Therapeutic Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A developmentally inspired osteochondral construct integrates mechanical and metabolic dual gradients within a 3D‐printed platform. Human MSC spheroids are spatially directed to form cartilage–bone interfaces, enabling evaluation of regeneration without biochemical reagents and assessment of drug responses. This physiologically relevant, phase‐specific

High molecular weight FGF2 isoforms demonstrate canonical receptor-mediated activity and support human embryonic stem cell self-renewal

open access: yesStem Cell Research, 2017
Basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF2) is a highly pleiotropic member of a large family of growth factors with a broad range of activities, including mitogenesis and angiogenesis (Ornitz et al., 1996; Zhang et al., 2006), and it is known to be essential ...
