Tunable Fabrication of 2D‐Layered Magnesium Nanosilicates With Hemostatic Properties

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2026.
Tunable 2D magnesium nanosilicates form bioactive protein coronas, support cellular internalization, and promote hemostatic activity. These nanoclays enable shear‐thinning gel formation and reduce clotting time and blood loss, highlighting their potential for wound‐management applications. Tunable fabrication of inorganic two‐dimensional (2D) nanoclays

Spatial Characterization of the Human Meniscus: Bridging Biomechanics and Biochemistry Using Atomic Force Microscopy Micro‐Indentation and Mass Spectrometry Imaging

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 18, 23 September 2026.
A multimodal imaging approach combines AFM micro‐indentation and MALDI mass spectrometry imaging on the same fresh‐frozen human meniscus section to directly associate microscale mechanics with molecular composition. Collagen‐rich regions exhibit increased stiffness, whereas zones enriched in other extracellular matrix proteins are mechanically less ...

The History of the Discovery of Vitamin K

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 139, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Vitamin K was discovered during the 1930s when a strange haemorrhagic disorder was observed in chickens fed a cholesterol‐free diet. A fat‐soluble agent, present in green leafy vegetables and hog liver, was able to restore haemostasis in the chickens.

Venous Thromboembolism in Severe Community‐Acquired Pneumonia at High‐Altitude Areas: Prevalence, Risk and Outcome

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 9, September 2026.
In hospitalized patients with SCAP at high‐altitude areas, the prevalence of VTE is unexpectedly high and may be associated with poor prognosis. Early identification of high‐risk individuals and refinement of preventive strategies are therefore necessary to improve patient outcomes.
