Similarities and differences between the fibronectins of normal and transformed hamster cells.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1981
Fibronectins from normal and virally transformed hamster cells were compared by several criteria. The fibronectin from transformed cells was similar to that from normal cells in being an intact dimeric glycoprotein with the ability to bind to gelatin ...

Central giant cell granuloma of the jaws and giant cell tumor of long bones: an immunohistochemical comparative study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Oral Science, 2007
OBJECTIVE: This study investigated whether some components of the extracellular matrix and CD68 expression may drive the differences between the central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) of the jaws and giant cell tumor (GCT) of long bones, which present ...

Adhiron: a stable and versatile peptide display scaffold for molecular recognition applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We have designed a novel non-antibody scaffold protein, termed Adhiron, based on a phytocystatin consensus sequence. The Adhiron scaffold shows high thermal stability (Tm ca. 101°C), and is expressed well in Escherichia coli. We have determined the X-ray

Carbohydrate structure of hamster plasma fibronectin. Evidence for chemical diversity between cellular and plasma fibronectins.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1982
The structure of the carbohydrate moiety of hamster plasma fibronectin was determined. The glycopeptides and oligosaccharides released by hydrazinolysis (Fukuda, M., Kondo, T., and Osawa, T. (1976) J. Biochem.

Antibacterial surface modification of titanium implants in orthopaedics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The use of biomaterials in orthopaedics for joint replacement, fracture healing and bone regeneration is a rapidly expanding field. Infection of these biomaterials is a major healthcare burden, leading to significant morbidity and mortality. Furthermore,

Modulation of matrix adhesive responses of human neuroblastoma cells by neighboring sequences in the fibronectins

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1988
Attachment and neurite extension have been measured when Platt or La-N1 human neuroblastoma cells respond to tissue culture substrata coated with a panel of complementary fragments from the individual chains of human plasma (pFN) or cellular fibronectins

Recipient‐derived EDA fibronectin promotes cardiac allograft fibrosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Advances in donor matching and immunosuppressive therapies have decreased the prevalence of acute rejection of cardiac grafts; however, chronic rejection remains a significant obstacle for long‐term allograft survival.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

In Vitro Impact of Triatomine Salivary Glands Extracts Introduced to Endothelial Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Chagas Disease (AKA Trypanosomiasis) is caused by biting/feeding behavior from the arthropod vector Triatoma (subfamily of Reduviidae family), that house the endoparasite Trypanosoma cruzi, which can then be passed to human and mammalian hosts (Schmidt ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
