Collective action and marketing of underutilized plant species: The case of minor millets in Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu, India [PDF]

open access: yes
"Minor millets are examples of underutilized plant species, being locally important but rarely traded internationally with an unexploited economic potential.

Fit for purpose? Analysis of the relationship between skull, beak shape and feeding ecology in Psittaciformes

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 248, Issue 5, Page 873-887, May 2026.
Psittaciformes exhibit high levels of morphological diversity, particularly in skull and beak structure, previously linked to diet and body size. Although there were some levels of significance between diet and beak shape, body mass was a much stronger co‐variate. Diet is not determining beak shape within the clade.

The Conservation of Global Crop Genetic Resources in the Face of Climate Change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Outlines discussions from a September 2007 conference on the impact of climate change on crop distributions, agricultural productivity, and the need for and constraints on managing crop genetic resources.

Samplify: a versatile tool for image‐based segmentation and annotation of seed abortion phenotypes

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 3, Page 1964-1978, May 2026.
Summary Automated seed phenotyping has wide applications in research and agriculture and relies on easy‐to‐use platforms and pipelines. Seed phenotyping in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana poses a significant challenge due to the large number of tiny seeds produced by individual plants, which are difficult to manually separate and count.

Determinants of cereal diversity in communities and on household farms of the Northern Ethiopian Highlands: [PDF]

open access: yes
"On farm conservation of crop diversity poses obvious policy challenges in terms of the design of appropriate incentive mechanisms and possible trade-offs between conservation and productivity.

Lily Transcription Factors LlPLATZ1 and LlMYB4 Orchestrate the Homeostasis of Heat Stress Responses via Antagonistic Regulation of LlHSF24

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 3407-3425, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Heat stress significantly damages crop yield and quality. PLATZ (PLANT A/T‐RICH SEQUENCE‐AND ZINC‐BINDING PROTEIN) transcription factors play pivotal roles in plant growth, development, and environmental stress responses. While the functions of PLATZ members in response to drought and salt stress are well characterised, their roles in heat ...

Neuromuscular fatigue and loss of torque complexity during severe‐intensity exercise: The role of muscle size

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 5, Page 2588-2598, 1 May 2026.
Abstract This study investigated the effect of severe‐intensity exercise on neuromuscular fatigue (NMF) and torque complexity in two muscle groups of different sizes. The NMF of 11 healthy males was assessed through maximal voluntary contractions at the beginning, every minute and at task failure during intermittent isometric exercise performed at an ...

THE DETERMINANTS OF CEREAL CROP DIVERSITY ON FARMS IN THE ETHIOPIAN HIGHLANDS [PDF]

open access: yes
On farm conservation of crop diversity entails policy challenges, especially when the diversity of crops maintained on farms has both inter-specific (among crops) and infra-specific (within a crop) components.

Crops gone wild: evolution of weeds and invasives from domesticated ancestors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The evolution of problematic plants, both weeds and invasives, is a topic of increasing interest. Plants that have evolved from domesticated ancestors have certain advantages for study.
