Diseases of freshwater fish

open access: yesVeterinary Quarterly, 1996
Dust and endotoxin exposure was measured in the Spring and Autumn in 96 veterinary practitioners, subdivided in four professional groups ((predominantly working with either swine, cattle, poultry, or companion animals). Furthermore, peak expiratory flow (PEF) variability was measured four times a day over a week in Spring and Autumn in order to detect ...

Present status of aquaculture and the challenge of bacterial diseases in freshwater farmed fish in Tanzania; A call for sustainable strategies

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

First field evidence of aerosolised SGPV, ISAV-HPR0, and IPNV in Atlantic salmon RAS highlights transmission and biosecurity risks

open access: yesScientific Reports
Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) are closed-containment systems (CCS) offering biosecure, water-efficient farming conditions, yet pathogen transmission remains a critical concern.

Selective precipitation reaction: a novel diagnostic test for tissue pathology in Atlantic Salmon, Salmo salar, infected with Salmonid Alpha-Virus (SAV3) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
While investigating biomarkers for infection with salmonid alphavirus (SAV), the cause of pancreas disease (PD), a selective precipitation reaction (SPR) has been discovered in serum which could be an on-farm qualitative test and an in-laboratory ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
