Efficient Direct Recycling of Spent Batteries: Integrated Lithiation and Delamination

An integrated process for the delamination and relithiation of spent cathodes, LixNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 and LixFePO4, under open‐air conditions is proposed. The transition‐metal (Ni) oxidation state in the cathode is reduced by the oxidation of diethylene glycol, facilitating relithiation. Glycol aldehyde formation induces 100% electrode delamination.

DURING my studies the past summer at the Newport Marine Laboratory I captured a single specimen of an osseous fish, Seriola zonata, Cuv., which exhibits a most interesting example of parasitism or possibly commensalism. Upon the outer wall of its body an extraordinary hydroid was found to have attached itself.

Longitudinal, noninvasive in vivo imaging is crucial for studying brain physiology. Advances in transcranial optical windows and multiphoton microscopy have improved imaging depth, but their performance often deteriorates over time. This work investigated various transcranial window approaches and found that skull regrowth limits image quality.
