The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Incorporation of Prosopis cineraria Extract Improved the Mechanical, Barrier and Antioxidant Properties but Not the Antibacterial Activity of Tigertooth croaker Fish Scale Gelatin Film

open access: yesFoods
Scale gelatin films derived from croaker fish and infused with Prosopis (Prosopis cineraria) extract (PE) at concentrations of 0.3% and 0.7% were produced. A control film, void of extract, was employed for comparative purposes. The thickness of each film

Identification of Characteristic Peptides of Different Gelatins in Donkey-hide Gelatin Lump by High Performance Liquid Chromatography-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2022
To study the source of different gelatins of donkey-hide gelatin lumps, four kinds of donkey-hide gelatin lumps were added with low content (1 mg/mL) of bovine gelatin and porcine gelatin respectively.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Effects of Different Reducing Sugars on the Structure and Allergenicity of Silver Carp Parvalbumin via Noncovalent Interaction

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Taking parvalbumin (PV) from silver carp as the research object, four different reducing sugars-glucose, ribose, maltose and maltotriose, were selected to noncovalently with PV.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Effect of ellagitannin metabolites ellagic acid and urolithins A-D on the non-enzymatic glycation of human serum albumin and inhibiting mechanisms

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Effect of ellagitannins gut microbiota metabolites ellagic acid (EA) and urolithin A-urolithin D (UroA-UroD) on human serum albumin (HSA) glycation were firstly evaluated in this research. The inhibition mechanisms were investigated by methylglyoxal (MGO)

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
