Molecular Mechanism of Rice Protein Amyloid Fibrils in Modulating Gel Properties of Northern Pike (Esox lucius) Muscle Protein

open access: yesFoods
Northern pike (Esox lucius) myofibrillar protein (MP) forms inherently weak gels due to endogenous proteolytic activity and the low thermal stability of fish myosin, limiting its application in surimi products.

Kinetika Oksidasi Protein Ikan Kakap (Lutjanus sp) Selama Penyimpanan

open access: yesAgritech, 2017
Fish protein is oxidased easily during storage. The oxidation reaction rate can be approached through the order to zero or first order. The objective of this research was to study the oxidation rate during storage by determining the amount of activation ...

Tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 1 as a novel tumor suppressor through selective downregulation of CSNK2B blocks nuclear factor-κB activation in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2020
Background: Tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 1 (TNFAIP1) is frequently downregulated in cancer cell lines and promotes cancer cell apoptosis. However, its role, clinical significance and molecular mechanisms in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are ...

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Effects of latroeggtoxin-VI on dopamine and α-synuclein in PC12 cells and the implications for Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesBiological Research
Background Parkinson’s disease (PD) is characterized by death of dopaminergic neurons leading to dopamine deficiency, excessive α-synuclein facilitating Lewy body formation, etc.

Water-Soluble Fish Protein Intake Led to Lower Serum and Liver Cholesterol Concentrations in Obese Zucker fa/fa Rats

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2018
Proteins from different fish species and different raw materials such as fish fillets and by-products have shown promising cardioprotective effects in rodents and humans, including effects on cholesterol metabolism. Blue whiting is used mainly to produce

Impact of dietary protein levels on growth, feed utilization, body composition, and hematological characteristics of juvenile hybrid pufferfish (Takifugu obscurus × T. rubripes)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2022
In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the optimum dietary protein level in hybrid pufferfish (Takifugu obscurus ♀ × T. rubripes ♂). To this end, we formulated five isoenergetic (16 MJ/kg gross energy) diets with casein with different levels of ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
