Exact evolutionary dynamics on multi dimensional fitness landscape [PDF]
Crow-Kimura model is one of the famous models of population genetics. Last decade models with low-dimensional fitness landscape have been investigated. We consider the Crow-Kimura model of evolutionary dynamics on multi-dimensional fitness landscape with

A Survey of Advances in Landscape Analysis for Optimisation
Fitness landscapes were proposed in 1932 as an abstract notion for understanding biological evolution and were later used to explain evolutionary algorithm behaviour.

Global epistasis on fitness landscapes
Abstract Epistatic interactions between mutations add substantial complexity to adaptive landscapes and are often thought of as detrimental to our ability to predict evolution. Yet, patterns of global epistasis, in which the fitness effect of a mutation is well-predicted by the fitness of its genetic background, may actually be of ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The Role of Social Learning in the Evolution on a Rugged Fitness Landscape
The role and importance of social learning have been investigated by many researchers because it is observed in many animals and is expected to play a significant role in cultural phenomena.

Fitness landscape analysis devotes to characterizing different properties of optimization problems, such as evolvability, sharpness, and neutrality. Although several landscape features have been proposed, only a few of them can be used in practice as ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Unbiased inference of the fitness landscape ruggedness from imprecise fitness estimates
Fitness landscapes map genotypes to their corresponding fitness under given environments and allow explaining and predicting evolutionary trajectories.

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Global amphibian declines, loss of genetic diversity and fitness: a review
It is well established that a decrease in genetic variation can lead to reduced fitness and lack of adaptability to a changing environment. Amphibians are declining on a global scale, and we present a four-point argument as to why this taxonomic group ...
