Development of accurate dosimetry SiPM-based detectors for FLASH RT

FLASH radiotherapy and particle therapy are performed using ultra-high dose rate radiation (UHDR), specifically a dose rate higher than 40 Gy/sec. The advantage of FLASH compared to conventional therapy (CT) is based on the FLASH effect: improved normal tissue sparing while still maintaining tumor control.

Biological dose‐based fractional dose optimization of Bragg peak FLASH‐RT for lung cancer treatment

Medical Physics
Abstract Background The FLASH effect is dose‐dependent, and fractional dose optimization may enhance it, improving normal tissue sparing. Purpose This study investigates the performance of fractional dose optimization

Effects of Ultra-High Dose-Rate Radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) on the Hematopoietic and Immune Systems: An Animal Study

Radiation Research
Ultra-high dose-rate radiotherapy, also known as FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT), reduces radiation-induced damage in several organs. This study aimed to compare the effects of FLASH-RT and conventional dose-rate radiotherapy (CONV-RT) at 3 Gy and 5 Gy of total-body irradiation (TBI) on the survival of the hematopoietic system, peripheral blood cells ...

Redefining FLASH RT: the impact of mean dose rate and dose per pulse in the gastrointestinal tract

ABSTRACT Background The understanding of how varying radiation beam parameter settings affect the induction and magnitude of the FLASH effect remains limited. Purpose We sought to evaluate how the magnitude of radiation-induced ...
