Flavanones from Vernonia diffusa

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 1999
From the methanolic extract of the wood of Vernonia diffusa two flavanones were isolated and identified: hesperidin and a new flavanone, 3'-methylhesperetin (homoesperetin) and sucrose, which was identified as its acetyl derivative. The homoesperetin was

Molecular Chaperone Networks in Plants: Maintaining Proteostasis and Enhancing Stress Resilience for Crop Improvement

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Molecular chaperones play a central role in the plant proteostasis machinery by aiding the folding of nascent proteins, preventing aggregation, and repairing or degrading damaged proteins. These functions are especially essential during abiotic and biotic stress, which can destabilise cellular proteins and disrupt metabolic homoeostasis.

Phenolics and antioxidant activity of Rangpur lime (Citrus × limonia ) extracts from peels, leaves, and juice

open access: yesEclética Química
The Rangpur lime (Citrus x limonia) is a common fruit in Brazil. Although it is popular in medicine and cuisine, few investigations were conducted into the compositions and antioxidant capacities of infusions, decoctions and from the juice, leaves, and ...

Anthocyanins and betalains in evolution: Why mutual exclusion remains the best‐supported model

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Anthocyanins and betalains are plant pigments produced through different biosynthetic pathways and are generally considered mutually exclusive. We examine claims of their co‐occurrence, arguing that methodological flaws and data misinterpretation have led to unsupported reports, and offer recommendations for more rigorous future research.

Metabolomic Mapping of Greek Olive Leaves by Untargeted NMR‐Based Profiling and LC–HRMS Dereplication

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 2, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Olive tree leaves are phytochemically rich yet insufficiently valorised in terms of systematic cultivar‐based characterisation and exploitation, and are an abundant olive industry side‐product. This study represents the first large‐scale metabolome mapping based on 340 leaf extracts from five major Greek cultivars (Amfissis, Koroneiki, Manaki,

Impact of Yarrow Phenolic Compounds on the Composition, Structure, and Thermal Properties of Lupin Protein‐Stabilized Oil‐in‐Water Nanoemulsions

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
Yarrow phenolics modulate the interfacial and thermal behavior of lupin protein‐stabilized nanoemulsions through noncovalent interactions, altering droplet size, viscoelastic properties, and protein structure. ABSTRACT The effect of phenolic compounds extracted from yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) in the interfacial stabilization of oil–water ...

Iodine-Substituted Dithiocarbamic Flavanones—A Structure–Activity Relationship Study of Their Antioxidant Properties

open access: yesMolecules
The antioxidant properties of novel diiodo-substituted 3-dithiocarbamic flavanones were investigated. The three frameworks that proved to be the most active ones in our previous studies were selected.

Rational reduction of a sorghum SynCom that preserves growth promotion reveals flavonoid‐mediated plant–microbe interactions

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 6, Page 3507-3521, September 2026.
Synthetic community complexity reduction designs. Summary Plant growth is influenced by the composition of its associated microbiome. The inherent complexity and functional redundancy of natural plant microbiomes present a formidable barrier to understanding the myriad biological interactions therein.

Chitosan‐induced modulation of secondary metabolism and stress tolerance in Salvia rosmarinus under combined drought and heat stress

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 5989-6001, 15 August 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Abiotic stresses, particularly drought and elevated temperatures, negatively affect plant physiological and metabolic processes. This study investigated the effects of drought, heat, and combined stress on Salvia rosmarinus (rosemary), and evaluated foliar‐applied chitosan as a biostimulant.
