An Enzyme‐Like Catalyzed Nanosheets for Redox Stress Oscillation Therapy Against Bacterial Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial biofilms form a physicochemical barrier. Their dense network structure and redox homeostasis confer high resistance to antimicrobial treatments and immune‐mediated killing and clearance. In this study, SnSe nanosheets with enzyme‐like properties and piezoelectric catalysis can oscillate to regulate bacterial redox homeostasis and improve the ...

Mechanistic Insight into the Enzymatic Reduction of Truncated Hemoglobin N of Mycobacterium tuberculosis: role of the CD loop and pre-A Motif in electron cycling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: The HbN of Mycobacterium tuberculosis carries a potent nitric-oxide dioxygenase activity despite lacking a reductase domain. Results: The NADH-ferredoxin reductase system acts as an efficient partner for the reduction of HbN.

FLAVIN-HYPOXANTHINE DINUCLEOTIDE

open access: yesTHE JOURNAL OF VITAMINOLOGY, 1957
1. FHD was synthesized from FAD by deamination with nitrous acid and the product was first isolated as barium salt. The yield and purity were, however, unsatisfactory by this method. Therefore, the product was extracted with cresol, followed by transfer in aqueous phase, and by subjecting to column chromatography, FHD was obtained in high purity in ...

Synergistic Tuning of Conformational Dynamics, Electron Tunneling, and Substrate Positioning Enhances Electron Transfer in a P450 Chimera for Calcifediol Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A synergistic electron transfer (ET) optimization strategy modulating conformational dynamics, ET pathway, and substrate orientation is proposed for self‐sufficient cytochrome P450s. Guided by this strategy, a P450 variant with improved ET and catalytic efficiency was identified, and the underlying molecular basis was revealed by computational analysis.

Multi-heme Cytochromes in Shewanella oneidensis MR-1:Structures, functions and opportunities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Multi-heme cytochromes are employed by a range of microorganisms to transport electrons over distances of up to tens of nanometers. Perhaps the most spectacular utilization of these proteins is in the reduction of extracellular solid substrates ...

Characterisation of FAD-family folds using a machine learning approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and its derivatives play a crucial role in biological processes. They are major organic cofactors and electron carriers in both enzymatic activities and biochemical pathways. We have analysed the relationships between

NADH‐Reductive Stress Induced by Dihydrolipoamide Dehydrogenase Activation Contributes to Cuproptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a cuproptosis mechanism involving nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH)‐reductive stress in neural cells. Copper activates dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase under mitochondrial pH, accumulating NADH. Copper also induces mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening, facilitating NADH translocation to the cytosol and ...
