Altered CYP19A1 and CYP3A4 Activities Due to Mutations A115V, T142A, Q153R and P284L in the Human P450 Oxidoreductase

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
All cytochromes P450s in the endoplasmic reticulum rely on P450 oxidoreductase (POR) for their catalytic activities. Mutations in POR cause metabolic disorders of steroid hormone biosynthesis and affect certain drug metabolizing P450 activities.

Hydrolysis of flavin adenine dinucleotide and flavin mononucleotide by rabbit blood.

open access: yesJournal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology, 1980
Hydrolysis of FAD and FMN by rabbit blood was studied. The whole blood hydrolyzed both FAD and FMN to riboflavin. Blood plasma hydrolyzed FAD rapidly to FMN, but hydrolyzed FMN slowly to riboflavin. On the other hand, red cells hydrolyzed FAD slowly to FMN, but hydrolyzed FMN rapidly to riboflavin.

The Photoinactivation of Tobacco Transketolase in the Presence of Flavin Mononucleotide

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung B, 1972
Transketolase from the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum var. John William′s Broadleaf is inhibited by exposure to low intensity blue light in the presence of low concentrations of FMN, which functions as a sensitizer. The degree of photoinactivation is reduced in the presence of quenchers of triplet FMN.

Flavin Mononucleotide-based fluorescent reporter proteins outperform GFP-like proteins as quantitative in vivo real-time reporters

open access: yes, 2010
Fluorescent proteins of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) family are commonly used as reporter proteins for quantitative analysis of complex biological processes in living microorganisms.

Flavin-Dependent Redox Transfers by the Two-Component Diketocamphane Monooxygenases of Camphor-Grown Pseudomonas putida NCIMB 10007

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2016
The progressive titres of key monooxygenases and their requisite native donors of reducing power were used to assess the relative contribution of various camphor plasmid (CAM plasmid)- and chromosome-coded activities to biodegradation of (rac)-camphor at

Flavin Mononucleotide: The Coenzyme of Reduced Diphosphopyridine Nucleotide Dehydrogenase

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1963
From the particulate reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (DPNH) oxidase of beef heart, Mackler (3) has obtained a soluble DPNH dehydrogenase which was estimated to be approximately 90 to 95% homogenous when examined electrophoretically.l Similarly, when the enzyme was chromatographed on diethylaminoethyl cellulose with phosphate buffer, pH 7.5 ...

Flavin mononucleotide-based fluorescent proteins function in mammalian cells without oxygen requirement.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Usage of the enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) in living mammalian cells is limited to aerobic conditions due to requirement of oxygen during chromophore formation.

Discovery of antimicrobial compounds targeting bacterial type FAD synthetases

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2018
The increase of bacterial strains resistant to most of the available antibiotics shows a need to explore novel antibacterial targets to discover antimicrobial drugs. Bifunctional bacterial FAD synthetases (FADSs) synthesise the flavin mononucleotide (FMN)
