Sustainable, three-component, one-pot procedure to obtain active anti-flavivirus agents
The mosquito-borne viruses belonging to the genus Flavivirus such as Dengue virus (DENV) and Zika virus (ZIKV) cause human infections ranging from mild flu-like symptoms to hemorrhagic fevers, hepatitis, and neuropathies. To date, there are vaccines only

ABSTRACT Objective Scrub typhus is a major cause of acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) in the Asia–Pacific region. Nonspecific presentation, limited diagnostic accuracy and delayed treatment increase morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to develop a simple clinical score for early diagnosis in adults with AUFI. Methods A cross‐sectional

Unusual MRI features in a case of presumed canine tick‐borne meningoencephalomyelitis
Abstract A 7‐year‐old, standard, wire‐haired dachshund presented with quickly progressive multifocal central nervous system signs, which localised to the brainstem and cervical myelopathy, including reduced cervical and thoracic limb muscle tone and withdrawal reflexes. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed bilateral, approximately symmetric, T2‐weighted

Immunological Interactions Between Gammadelta T Cells and West Nile Virus in the Infected Host
ABSTRACT Between mosquitoes and birds, West Nile virus (WNV) is a neurotropic flavivirus, an arthropod‐borne pathogen involved in an enzootic cycle. Additionally, it can infect both people and horses, leading to severe illness. Since 1999, WNV has spread across North and South America, including Mexico and the Caribbean.

The arthropod-borne flaviviruses are important human pathogens, and a deeper understanding of the virus–host cell interaction is required to identify cellular targets that can be used as therapeutic candidates.

Single-cell transcriptional dynamics of flavivirus infection
Dengue and Zika viral infections affect millions of people annually and can be complicated by hemorrhage and shock or neurological manifestations, respectively. However, a thorough understanding of the host response to these viruses is lacking, partly because conventional approaches ignore heterogeneity in virus abundance across cells.

A synthetic methodology for the preparation of asymmetric benzene‐1,4‐disulfonamides was developed and applied to generate potential anti‐dengue virus (DENV) compounds. Guided by computer‐assisted structural rationalization, we designed synthetically more accessible analogs with reduced toxicity that interact with the DENV NS5 domain, thereby ...

Twenty‐one compounds, including six dolabellanes diterpenes and one germacrene sesquiterpene that are new natural products, are reported from the brown algae Dictyota fasciola and Dictyota mediterranea collected from the Aegean Sea. Among them, some exhibit considerable antiviral activity against RNA (HCoV‐NL63, ZIKV) and DNA (HSV‐1) viruses.
