Flaxseed is rich in α-linolenic acid and is used in broiler chicken diets to enrich tissues with n-3 fatty acids (FA). However, non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) in flaxseed decreases nutrient digestibility and limits the availability of n-3 FA ...

Lifestyle Management in Menopause: A Systematic Review of Women With Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
ABSTRACT Objective Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), the loss of ovarian function before age 40, increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, low bone mineral density, dementia and psychological distress. Lifestyle interventions reduce chronic disease risk in other populations and, with hormone therapy, may improve health outcomes in POI.

Flaxseed-enriched diets change milk concentration of the antimicrobial danofloxacin in sheep
Background Flaxseed is the most common and rich dietary source of lignans and is an acceptable supply of energy for livestock. Flaxseed lignans are precursors of enterolignans, mainly enterolactone and enterodiol, produced by the rumen and intestinal ...

Polyunsaturated fatty acids influence offspring sex ratio in cows [PDF]
Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) can influence fertility in farm animals. Some evidence in mice and sheep have suggested that PUFAs may influence offspring sex ratio, which may have significant value for cattle production.

ABSTRACT In this study, we investigated the immunomodulatory effects of St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) oil on the growth performance, immune responses and resistance against Lactococcus garvieae in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The plant oil was incorporated into feeds at concentrations of 1, 3, and 5 g kg−1, designated as K1, K3, and K5,

ABSTRACT Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a known risk factor for hypercalcemia in cats. Phosphate‐restricted diets have also been implicated in causing hypercalcemia, in part because phosphate restriction increases the Ca:P ratio. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of two different therapeutic renal foods on ionized (iCa ...
