Power System Stabilizer Driven by an Adaptive Fuzzy Set for Better Dynamic Performance

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2006
This paper presents a novel application of a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) driven by an adaptive fuzzy set (AFS) for a power system stabilizer (PSS).The proposed FLC, driven by AFS, is compared with a classical FLC, driven by a fixed fuzzy set (FFS). Both

Asymmetrically Fluorinated Phenyl 4‐biphenylcarboxylate Motifs as a Design Principle for Enantiotropic Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 45, 13 August 2026.
The effect of the structural arrangement of DIO and its analogs on ferroelectric phases is explored. Consequently, it is found that an asymmetrically fluorinated phenyl 4‐biphenylcaroboxylate skeleton is one of the favorable structural motifs for the emergence of enantiotropic ferroelectric liquid crystal phases.

Current Challenges of Transcription Compartmentalization Research

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
Transcription factors, coactivators, and RNA polymerase II assemble into transcription compartments ranging from small, defined complexes to liquid‐like condensates. This review unifies these seemingly competing descriptions along a single continuum and asks what these compartments have been shown to do, and what they have not, revealing that the most ...

Determinants of Long‐Term Benefit From High Dose Melphalan With Autologous Stem Cell Transplant in AL Amyloidosis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 8, Page 1903-1914, August 2026.
ABSTRACT High dose melphalan (HDM) with autologous stem cell transplant is an established treatment for systemic light chain amyloidosis, but its incremental benefit in the era of effective standard intensity therapy is unknown. We retrospectively analyzed 475 transplant‐eligible patients who completed standard intensity treatment with or without HDM ...

Design and Implementation of an Intelligent Horizontal Single‐Axis Solar Tracking (HSAT) Using a Fuzzy Logic Approach for Maximum Solar Radiation Absorption

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
Block diagram representation of solar tracking system. ABSTRACT An intelligent horizontal single axis solar tracking system was designed and implemented, as documented in this paper. A hybrid control strategy was employed to perform solar tracking.

Effects of the HDAC6/8 Inhibitor MC1568, Alone and in Combination With Fluconazole, in Non‐Albicans Candida Species Infections

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study explores new antifungal strategies to combat non‐albicans Candida species. We tested clinically approved HDAC inhibitors—Vorinostat, Romidepsin, Tucidinostat—and the HDAC6/8‐selective MC1568, alone and with Fluconazole. The Fluconazole/MC1568 combination significantly enhanced antifungal activity and reduced biofilm formation.

Ecological Transformations of Coastal Wetlands of the Conterminous United States in Response to Contemporaneous Sea‐Level Rise

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Coastal wetlands are among the most important ecosystems on the planet but are increasingly imperiled by accelerating sea‐level rise (SLR). In the past, biogeomorphic feedbacks have allowed coastal wetlands to adjust vertically and persist through periods of accelerated SLR.

Synergistic Optimization of Real‐Time Control and Spatial Layout Can Enhance the Global Benefits of Urban Stormwater Storage Systems

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Traditional static designs of urban stormwater storage systems are increasingly inadequate for addressing extreme rainfalls. Recent advances highlight optimizing both spatial layout and real‐time control (RTC) of storage facilities, yet most of these decisions are made sequentially, overlooking how layout constraints can affect RTC efficiency ...
