Fluconazole-Resistant Candida albicans Vulvovaginitis

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2012
As a result of high recurrence rates of Candida albicans vaginitis, successful suppressive fluconazole is widely used, and drug resistance is considered rare. We report increased occurrence of secondary fluconazole resistance, analysis of risk factors thereof, and describe management of fluconazole-refractory vaginitis.Patients referred to the ...

Fluconazole-resistant candidosis in an HIV cohort

AIDS, 1994
To report the occurrence of HIV-related mucosal candidosis that fails to respond to fluconazole, to establish the correlation between in vitro susceptibility testing and clinical failure, and to assess the efficacy of alternative treatments.Chart review of all patients with fluconazole failure and all patients with CD4 counts < 50 x 10(6)/l continuing ...

Alkaloids from Tabernaemontana divaricata combined with fluconazole to overcome fluconazole resistance in Candida albicans

Bioorganic Chemistry, 2021
Nineteen indole alkaloids including eleven new ones, taberdines A-K (1-11), were isolated from Tabernaemontana divaricata. Their structures were assigned by MS, NMR, single crystal X-ray diffractions, and ECD analyses. Alkaloid 1 is an aspidosperma-type monoterpenoid indole alkaloid and possesses a rearranged pyrrolidine moiety due to C-3 degradation ...

Mechanism of Fluconazole Resistance in Candida krusei

Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1998
ABSTRACT The mechanisms of fluconazole resistance in three clinical isolates of Candida krusei were investigated. Analysis of sterols of organisms grown in the absence and presence of fluconazole demonstrated that the predominant sterol of C.

Fluconazole resistant oral candidiasis in HIV‐infected patients

Oral Diseases, 1997
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the risk factors associated with the emergence of fluconazole resistant Candida spp. in HIV‐infected patients with oral candidiasis. METHODS: Candida spp. were isolated from oral swabs and tested in vitro for resistance to fluconazole. The factors potentially correlated with vazole‐resistent Candida spp.

Fluconazole resistance of Candida krusei.

Bollettino dell'Istituto sieroterapico milanese, 1994
We present a case of young male treated for a recurrence of Acute Non Lymphoid Leukemia who presented a colonization by C. krusei during prophylaxis with Fluconazole. The fever episode, which he developed while neutropenic, was resolved with the addition of Amphotericin B after the failure of empiric antibiotic therapy.

Fluconazole-resistant Candida species in the oral flora of fluconazole-exposed HIV-positive patients

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 1998
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of preceding fluconazole treatment on the oral mycologic flora and on the sensitivity of oral Candida albicans isolates to fluconazole. Saline oral rinses were collected from 89 HIV-positive patients, of whom 48 had been exposed to fluconazole and 41 were fluconazole-naive. The rinses were cultured on
